Well hi Anette,
No, I do not know of anyone performing research on Egbers ancestors in the Netherlands. I have done so myself, for the village I lived in, in 1971. Afterwards I graduated in Modern History and everyone expected me to dive into the archives, but that would be too difficult a task. The grandfather of my grandfather was the last one to be registered with a last name, after Napoleon introduced family names in (then occupied) Hollland in 1810, or so. So the family cannot be traced before that, as everyone was registered like "Jan, the son of Piet and Marie", or in the best case "Jan, the son of Piet the Blacksmith and Marie from Wim at the mill".
I am a computer programmer, these days, and I wait for the blessing of internet to provide access to sources of genealogy.

Greetings, Nico Egbers, The Netherlands.
