Hi,
Thanks for the note. I haven't been able to find a thing for my Julia Egan Flynn.
I did find this year that her husband Dennis Flynn of Co. Mayo Ireland , living in Low Quebec, had a sister Mrs. Ellen Flynn McAndrew living across the river in Cantley. That brings in more clues of Flynns and Barrets down in Templeton Quebec, all from Co. Mayo.
I'm wondering if it will come down to the beta DNA test that ancestry has, when they open it up to the Canadian and Irish market. Is that something you would think to take ? I have an extra one!
My email is
cey.email@yahoo.com, I'm in the US.
I've often wondered if my gg-grandmother Julia ( Judith) Egan Flynn is a daughter of the Thomas Egan and Ann Welch family that you have. The French priests sometimes writes her as 'Judith' in the church entries of St. Camillus or St. Martins. The birthyear would fit of 1828, her mother's name is the only thing badly written in the wedding entry as either 'Sebina, Salina Walsh' of this parish. I think they had neighboring farms in low with the Egan/Gannons, there is a Julia Gannon niece. Possible the link is back in Ireland and they are cousins of Co. Mayo.
I also cannot find the witness at the 1850 St. Camillus wedding - Julia's brother James Egan. As you know, your line's son - the James Egan/Rooney couple went to Minnesota. My g-grandfather Patrick Flynn of Low later went to Minnesota to work, marrying Catherine McCormick of Steele Co. I pieced together that his sister Sarah Flynn came down with Ann Gannon to visit, Ann met Thomas McCormick - ( brother of Catherine) and married him, living in New Richland and Dilworth MN. I love the old puzzles. Their early letters of 1800's show them keeping in touch with MN Gannons.
I met a 94 year old woman of the McCormick line in MN a few years ago, she remembered the Egan/Gannon from Stearns and Pope Co. MN bring in the wagons with the wool clip to sell in St. Cloud.
All the best, Catherine
