Do you know anything about the Mary Egan / Eagan of North Brookfield MA mentioned in local newspaper articles [1920's- 1930's] about Broadway's George M. COHAN? She was his relative, but it didn't say how....George M voiced fond reminiscences of North Brookfield times spent with his cousins, but only one named was Murty HOWARD.
Since George M was born in Providence on 3 July 1878... I'm wondering....
Another possible EGAN - COHAN connection:
In 1850, George's grandparents Michael and Jane [SCOTT] COHAN lived in Boston's 8th Ward. [Their children then included 2 -yr old Jeremiah COHAN, later a civil war orderly, tailor, then vaudevillian, and George M's father.] Nearby in 1850, probably in the same block or around the corner, lived Ann AGAN 48 and William SCOTT 70 [possibly Jane SCOTT COHAN's father], both born Ireland. Ann was listed first. No marital status given, so Ann could be his widowed daughter?
Any suggestions or search ideas would be most welcome.
