Doing some family research with the view to compiling a family tree. Looking for information or decendents of James Egan (Eagan or Agen)born in October 1832, parents Patrick and Mary Callaghan. Allegedly travelled to the States in the mid 1800,s with two sisters Mary and Catherine. I'm told he eventually ended up in California.Left behind was a brother Thomas who was my grgrandfather. He was from Roscommon and we still live in the same place. Thomas's son Patrick supposedly emigrated to his uncle James around 1890-1900' his father was Thomas and his mother Mary Higgins. Patrick was a half brother of my grandfather. He was born in 1871.Would love to connect with any relatives who may be out there. Will be able to connect some missing links.
Thank you,
Gerardine Egan-Mearon.

Hello.

Are you by any chance the niece of Herbert J. Egan of Toronto? Formerly of Castleknock, Ireland? His siblings are Jack, Eileen and Sheila.

Thanks

Violet

Surnames: Egan, Kenney
I have researching the Egans from Bunnamucka Roscommon: my grandfather was Andrew (b. 1863), son of John and Bridget( Conry). He emigrated to Rhode Island, USA about 1880. His older sister, Anastacia (b. 1858), had emigrated to the Providence area earlier. Anastacia was the oldest of 14( ?) siblings. Among these were an Esther, Thomas, James. Bernard, Michael, Mary, John, Matilda, Catherine, Martin, Bridget. The youngest was Elizabeth, born in 1882. Anastacia married an O’Reilly; Andrew married Mary Kenney daughter of John and Bridget [(Reilly) sister of Michael , Denis and Bridget, all of whom emigrated from the Elphin/Strokestown area to Rhode Island between 1880 and 1892]. Elizabeth married a Denis Keegan.
Andrew (d.1916) and Mary (Kenny) had 8 children: Elizabeth, John, Andrew F.(d. 1914), Mary, Thomas, Joseph (my father) and Anna.
Are any of these names familiar to you or part of your history? I posted all of this on FaceBook: County Roscommon Genealogy page with a picture of Andrew’s family.THe tree is listed o ancestry.com with the name: “Shah Family Treee"
Hoping to hear from you,
Susanne Egan McGlynn
