Hello!
Egalton is a very rare name, so I was suprised to see your post. As you can see I share the same name so Nancy must be a relative. Most of the Egalton clan now live in the Dagenham area (border of East London Essex). We moved here in the 1930's, but come from that part of the east-end your interested in. I don't have any imformation on Nancy, but if I can be of any help please get in touch.

My sister in Law is researching her Egalton line and as they are from Poplar there may be a connection. Her Mother was Catharine Egalton Descended from Henry Egalton and Rose Batten.I understand that some members of the family lived in Dagenham and also that some of her ancestors were Lightermen and Watermen.Let me know if this info rings any bells.

Hi!
Yes, it does ring a bell! My Grand Father's name was Henry Egalton. I never knew him as he was killed in the war. But from what I was told he was a bit of a ladies man! My Grand Mother died in 1991, they had five children, Harry, Iris, James, Terry ( my dad ) and Ann. Unfortunatly, Iris and Ann have both passed away. Most of the family still live in Dagenham. I have no idea what Henry did for aliving,.

Hope this helps

Terry

Hi Terry
Happy New Year and thank you for replying and it would appear that you are related to my sister in law Cathy.Your Grandfather Henry and Cathy,s Mother Catherine were brother and sister and their parents were Henry Egalton and Rose Batton making you and Cathy first cousins once removed.Cathy has one son Timothy so you and he are second cousins. Cathy lives in Cambridge so I am doing this
research for her. I am still trying to find the marriage of Henry Egalton and Rose Batton pre 1909 but no luck so far.
Will let you know if I find anything interesting.
Bye for now.
Eve

Joseph Egalton and Eliza Ingram had a son Alfred who married Jane Margaret "Polly" Wilson who was the daughter of Nancy, nee Ingram. I've not yet established the relationship between Eliza and Nancy.

I am the granddaughter of Benjamin George Egalton, who seems to be the brother of your Henry. There were 5 children of Benjamin W. and Emma. The daughter (Emma) was killed in a fire and one of the sons drowned in a dock. The names of the 2 other brothers are Arthur and Walter.

Hello

I am the granddaughter of Walter Egalton. He and his wife (don't know her name at the moment) had two children Linda Ann (my mother) and Howard now deceased.

My mother lives in Bedfordshire and I live in South Wales. I know that Walter was a gardener, and he was deaf (a family trait I believe). They lived near Lewisham in London during and up to about 1969 when they came to Australia to live with us. Unfortunately, Walter's wife died there and he returned to England. He spent his last years with his new wife at an elderly person's complex in Peckham.

I know this will not help your researches, but hello anyway!

Ann
