Classification: Query
Surnames: MUIR, BOTTOMS, EAFORD, WHITE, SMITH
Greetings,

My name is Shannon Muir. My maternal great grandparents are James Burrell BOTTOMS and Annie EAFORD. While I have had incredible success locating information on the BOTTOMS line, as well as my grandmother's lines of WHITE and SMITH, I have not been able to find much of anything about my maternal great-grandmother Annie EAFORD. My grandfather John Zenus BOTTOMS did not have contact with a lot of his family from what I can gather, despite being one of ten children.

James Burrell BOTTOMS and Annie EAFORD, along with their children, ultimately resided in Hartford, Geneva County, Alabama. The farthest back I can find Annie EAFORD is the 1910 census when their oldest child Artie Mae is an infant. If I read the census right, Annie should be about 28 in 1910. But then the trail goes cold following her back.

The only other interesting clue I have is something I came across in a Google search. I find a J B BOTTOMS and Annie EAFORD marrying in HOLMES COUNTY, FLORIDA on 23 Aug 1908 on this page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~flholmes/Marriages/bk1bride.htm

I have no idea why they would have married in Florida, or am sure if these are my great-grandparents, but it's all I have to try to confirm or deny. Maybe it will open the door to the next clue. I am still trying to figure out how or if I can request the corresponding marriage license in Florida.

In the meantime, any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Shannon Muir
