Interaction with CHANDLER
Darla,
Saw your message posted on George Wilson EFFERSON being married to a Elizabeth BRISTER. Do you have any CHANDLER, JORDAN, MACKEY, PERRY, or GILL surnames in your line?

I do not have any of those surnames list. My info on the Efferson line is limited to George and his children. I have reached a dead end. If you have any other info, please contact me.

Efferson, Chandler Stewart
Darla, Contact me by direct e-mail. I need to include Bobbie Wilson as she has some direct Chandler Efferson ties (Anna Efferson, b. 1825 GA, d. 9/16/1870 LA James Chandler, m. 9/20/1821 Amite County, MS; moved to Livingston Parish (Springfield area), LA) moved to LA after 1821. You need to compare som notes, as we think parts of Efferson, Chandler and Stewart (amoung many others) families moved together in the migration out of GA into MS and LA. Dear Darla,
Some years back I researched rather extensively into my geneological line of the Effersons. My father was Lawrence Joseph Efferson, son of Samuel A. Efferson and grandson of George Wilson Efferson. G.W.'s father, George, and his wife, Elizabeth were researched by me but I came to a dead end. I corresponded with Rick Wall, another relative, who has posted Efferson lineage and I noticed he had a birth date for George. Although I have a copy of the marriage license, I would love to know the documentation of the birth date. Please respond if you are currently checking the inquiry.

I have the birthdate for G.W. Efferson as June 19, 1803. This information is not confirmed.

Darla, Can you give me any info. regarding your connection to G.W. Efferson? I also only have my great grandfather's name as George Wilson, but not his father. His father, married to Elizabeth Brister, was not G.Wilson, according to my records. Do you have any confirmation of the 1803 Efferson as G. Wilson? Thanks

Re: George Wilson Efferson
Glenda, Remember me? We corresponded when I was living in Shreveport, LA, back in the 1980s. I'm back in Baton Rouge now (since 1983). My mom's paternal gf was John Brister Efferson (son of Geo & Eliz.) I'm still looking for more info on George but I did have a birthdate for him in 1803. Census records (probably - I'm doing this from memory) showed him listing himself as being born in Indian Nations, S.C. However, I also have him with the same birthdate born in Dublin, Ireland. This was found on one of the LDS World records CDs I found at the Baton Rouge branch of the library. I don't think it's online though. My mother has spoken of hearing that the Efferson name came from the Iverson line in Ireland & there are a number of George's descendents with the first name Iverson. The name Iverson in Ireland goes back to a Norwegian explorer name Ivar/Ivor who immigrated to Ireland very early (about 900 AD). No proof of this, of course, but another line of research. Also, I just learned that there are George Wilson's in the Brister line, which could mean that George & Elizabeth were kin (kissin' cousins?) of some kind. I'm waiting to hear back from someone researching Bristers if they know anything.

Re: George Wilson Efferson
Hi Jan, Yes, I well remember our correspondence. Thank you so much for the Ireland lead. I am still teaching and summer is nearly the only time I try to do any ancestry work. Have you been successful at all online???? I havent joined any of the sites that charge, but when I retire, I would like to do that. I want to work on the Iverson idea. Thanks so much. Lets keep in touch.
P.S.My mom still lives in Baton Rouge. Most of my dad's cousins, etc. have long since died, as has he...1980.
Sincerely, Glenda B.
