I have been searching for the origins as well, seems to be that everything I have found leads to Germany. I have found one tree where Holland was the origin. Any information you may have would be greatly appreaciated.

Surnames: Efaw
I have been told that my great grandmother was an Efaw from W.V. My pap who is now in his 80's said his mom died when he was only 6yrs old. His name is Harry R. Ankrom and currently lives in Washington PA. He said that his mom was 100% Indian.

Efaw is a German name and it does Mean Earth Fire Air and water...the Post about being 100% Indian does not surprise me our part of Efaw Family has a lot of Indian and I questioned us having a German name and discovered that when the English were putting Indians on reservations ...the Indians did not have last names so the English would pick a European last name for them...I'm glad they picked ours appropriately
