Well Hello Cousin!
What a nice suprise to finally find a connection wiht the Edney family!
Elizabeth Jane Edney Murphy was my GG Grandmother. The info that I have says she was born in Stoneham Quebec in 1857.
I know she lived in St. Johnsbury area and her husband James Murphy worked on the Fairbanks Museum in the late 1800's.
They had 3 sons Charles, George (my g father) and Earle.
They "brought up" a girl by the name of ADA, now would that have been her niece that was left motherless? It is believed that Ada went by the last name of Murphy, but we have never been sure of her real heritage.
James left the area some time after his last son was born (1894) and at some point Elizabeth Jane married Allison Miller.
I found in the 1870 census of Quebec that Marie (Bouret) Edney (Elizabeth's mother) was listed as Mrs Andrew Edney, so it is assumed that Andrew had died at this point.
The info that I have indeed says that Andrew came from England and Marie for France, but I didn't know where in England.
What a great treat this is!
Any other information that you have would be warmly received. I have some other dates and things also.
You can e-mail me personaly if you want.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Mary
