My GGgrandrather was Rev James Edgell and wife was Mary Cain their son Ulysses Grant Edgell was my great grandfather and my grandmother was Burtie Lorris Edgell who married Albert Pardeas Haught My dad was their seventh child James Alvie Haught. I am looking for relatives. My grandmother put up some of her children in a home because she couldn't take care of them My dad was one of them. She did not get him back so he was raised in a foster home. She remarried and had other children but I dont know who she married but one of the sons came to visit us when I was 5or 6 and then she came when I was nearly 8.

Hi, I think we are related! ;) I have John Wesley Edgell and Hulda Starkey, my great great grandparents, as being the parents of Rhoda M. Edgell, born Dec. 27, 1885. I have that Rhoda married a Davis, that's about it on her. Rhoda would have been my great-grandaunt. Feel free to pm me if you'd like to share info. iamanbk@verizon.net.

I was following the lineage you described and either your message is missing a few generations or I have something very wrong. I have listed that the parents of James C. Edgell are William Edgell and Sarah Dunn. William Edgell's parents were James Edgell and Mary Ice. It is Mary Ice who comes from William "Indian Billy" Ice and Margaret Higginbotham. As such the beginning of your lineage would look like this:

Frederick Ice (1680-1796) m. Mary Galloway (1680-1745)
William "Indian Billy" Ice (1730-1826) m. Margaret Higginbotham (1749-1804)
Mary Ice (1775-?) m. James Edgell (1775-1805)
William Edgell(? - 1844) m. Sarah Dunn (1804-1877)
James C. Edgell (1820-1895) m. Mary Jane Cain (1828-1898)
Charles Wesley Edgell (...)

** Frederick Ice (1680-1796) was also married to Eleanor Levingston in 1752
** William "Indian Billy" Ice (1730-1826) was also married to Mary Scott McMillan as well as Elizabeth Shreve (1778-?)
** Mary Ice (1775-?) was also married to Abraham Shreve
** Sarah Dunn (1804-1877) was also married to John Keller (1793-?)

I am still working through confirming all of this information, but for now this is what I have listed.

I also have a John Wesley Edgell. He was born in Vermont in 1812 and died about 1875. His wife was named Martha Jeanette Johnston Edgell and was born in South Carolina on Sept. 1, 1824 and died in Mc'Allester, Oklahoma in 1911. I don't suppose these are the same men...but maybe there was a connection somehow before that time. How far back do you go with your John Wesley Edgell? He is the end of the line for me and was my great-great-grandfather.
Thank you,
Peter L. Edgell

I am a descendent of Elias Edgell who was married to M. Trader and I have been trying to find where they may have been buried and if his wife had actually been an Indian. Thanks for your help.--Don
