I purchased in Alameda, CA the subject undated studio portrait printed in RPPC (Real Photo Postcard) format, depicting a young woman and a girl. It is inscribed on the back in Spanish handwriting:
"Senor Pedro Castro:
Estimado tio:
Recibo el presente como prueva
de carino que le profezan sus
sobrinas que verlo deseau a Ud
y a toda su familia. S.S.S.
Rosa y Guadalupe Ecroyd"
Translation from Spanish to English:
Mr. Pedro Castro:
Esteemed Uncle:
Receive this as proof of the care
that your nieces want to send to
you and the rest of your family. S.S.S. = Su saguaro servidor = Your humble servant or Yours sincerely
Rosa and Guadalupe Ecroyd
I found these individuals listed in the database "Border Crossings: From Mexico to U.S., 1895-1964." On 27 Jun 1927, Guadalupe Ecroyd, accompanied by her daughter Rosa Valdez, arrived at the Port of Nogales, AZ. Guadalupe was born about 1899 in Valle Vista, Mexico, and her occupation was servant. A cousin named Benjamin Campor (name difficult to read on scanned copy of card), Los Angeles, CA, is shown as their arrival contact.
