WARREN - James Economos, 76, died peacefully at his home, with family by his side, on April, 20, 2015.
James was born Oct. 29, 1938, in Warren, Ohio.
He was the only son of Harry D. and Joan (Asimakopoulos) Economos. James was a proud graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in 1956, and was a lifetime resident of Warren. James attended The Ohio State University and was a 1960 graduate of Youngstown State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.'
James entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged with the rank of captain in 1969, from the Army Reserves.
James married Joan Pompos at Heinz Chapel at the University of Pittsburgh on May 6, 1961. They enjoyed 33 years of marriage, until her death on Feb. 23, 1995.
Together, they had four children, who survive.
James was owner/operator of the Saratoga Restaurant and Catering, from 1960 until he passed away. The Saratoga Restaurant was bought by his father, uncle, and a business partner in 1935. They will celebrate the 100th Anniversary in 2016.
Under James’ ownership, the Saratoga Restaurant has grown to be one of the area’s premier caterers.
James was extremely active in his community and loved the city of Warren, OH.
He was an active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren.
James was also a member of the Trumbull 100, National Packard Museum, Carroll F Clapp Lodge No. 0655 F&AM, Grand Council No. 58 Royal and Select Masons of Ohio, Warren Commandery No. Knights Templar, Pan-Arcadian Federation of America and the Order of Ahepa Zeus Chapter No. 88.
James was a recent member of the Trumbull County Mobile Meals board of directors, the Packard Park Trustees and a trustee of the Warren Football Association.
He received numerous accolades and awards during his life, of which the most notable were the Mahoning Valley Chamber of Commerce Pendelton Business Achievement Award, a Community Star and the Warren City Schools Distinguished Hall of Fame.
James was an avid sports fan. He loved the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Warren G. Harding football team.
James is survived by his daughters, Dorian Economos Miller, Chrisi Economos and Jennifer Economos (Robert) Sudzina, all of Warren.
He is survived by one son, Eric (Angela) of Howland, OH.
James is also survived by one sister, Demetra (Norman Black) of Stamford, Conn. James had four grandchildren, Alexandra Marie and Andrew James Miller, Evan James and Ella Rose Economos. James is also survived by his nephews, Max and Nicholas Black and Chris Pompos. Services for James will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 420 High St., Warren, on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 1 p.m.
Calling hours will be held at the church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
James will be buried at Crown Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trumbull County Mobile Meals, the National Packard Museum in Warren, Ohio in memory of James.
