Freda "Jackie" Evers, 95, died this morning, June 24, 2008 at a nursing home in Ellinwood, KS. Services are not yet definite but are expected to be Friday, June 27 at the Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, KS. Jackie is the youngest daughter of Johanna "Hannah" Ekhoff Evers - an older sister of John and Herman Ekhoff. Jackie was the last survivor of Hannah's 17 children. She lived in the Evers farm house built by her father for more than 90 years until she moved to the nursing home. She was hostess for many family gatherings of Ekhoff's and Teten's held at the Evers Farm, because Johanna was unable to travel. This leaves Kay, May Belle and Christena as the only surviving grandchildren of Johann and Margaretha Ekhoff. - Submitted by Stan Barnhill, gr-grandson of Johanne Folkerts and Johanna Catherina (Eckhoff) Evers.
