ROCHELLE - Minnie K. Eckhardt, 105, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, in Rochelle Healthcare Center East. She was born Aug. 6, 1896, in Cuba, Ill., the daughter of George and Dorothy Schumacker Hartjen. Minnie married August Eckhardt on Feb. 25, 1919, in Rochelle; he died Dec. 17,
1957. She managed the food service at Rochelle Township High School for five years, and in Rochelle Elementary Schools for 10 years; also worked at Rochelle Community Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a charter member of VFW Post 3878 Auxiliary. Survivors
include daughters, Marie Weber of Paso Robles, Calif., and Dixie (Ray) Hunziker of Solvang, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Louise Eckhardt of Rochelle; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by six brothers and four sisters; son, William Eckhardt; grandson, Ricky Henrey; great-grandsons, Mark Schnorr and John Heinen; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Schnorr.

Minnie K. Eckhardt, 106, of Rochelle, Ill., died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at a Rochelle care center.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rochelle. A funeral service will
follow. The Rev. Mark Nordman will officiate. Burial will take place at Lawnridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Eckhardt was born Aug. 6, 1895, in Cuba, Ill., to George and Dorothy Schumacker Hartjen. She married August Eckhardt on Feb. 25, 1919, in Rochelle. He died on Dec. 17, 1957.
Mrs. Eckhardt managed the food service for the RTHS for five years, the elementary schools for 10 years and also worked at the Rochelle Community Hospital. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and a charter member VFW Post 3878 Auxiliary.
Mrs. Eckhardt is survived by her daughters, Marie Weber of Paso Robles and Dixie Hunziker of Solvang; daughter-in-law Louise Eckhardt of Rochelle; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers; four sisters; son William Eckhardt; grandson Ricky Henrey; and great-grandchildren, Mark Schnorr, John Heinen and Hannah Schnorr.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church or to Unity Hospice in Rochelle.
