I am researching the ECKART Family who moved from Bavaria to UK, settling in Essex. The ECKART name is specific for the last 110 years, rarely recorded as ECKERT / ECKHARDT etc.
The Key person is Hans (Conrad Johannes Engelbert) ECKART (1867-27 Jun 1930), b. Bavaria [German], d. Eastbourne, SSX [2Q,2b,112]; a Warehouseman in 1901. He married Lilla (Alice Mary) SKINNER (1872-1968), [b. Hackney, London, d. Bournemouth, DOR [4Q, 6b, 206]], in 1897 in West Ham, ESS [had 3 issue, 2 liv in 1911]. Hans had a brother who also came to England, George Philip Theodore ECKART (1876-28 Jan 1949), b. Bavaria, d. Hammersmith; Manager of Electro Flute Company, who he married Alma WEDLAKE (1878-1953), [b. Minehead, SOM, d. Wandsworth [4Q, 5d, 638]] in 1899 at Holborn [2Q, 1b, 1381]. George & Alma had 5 issue by 1911c, 4 surv.
Hans & Lilla had three surviving issue:
1. Marie Bertha ECKART (1898-1936), bapt. 16 May 1898 at West Dulwich Emmanuel; ? d. Exbridge, MDX.
2. Walter Christian Richard ECKART (28 Mar 1899-1964), b. Dulwich, [Lambeth, 2Q, 1d, 532], d. Claro [3Q, 2c, 89], who married Sissy [Annie] LEITCH (22 Nov 1902-1970), d. York [2Q, 2d, 1930]. They had Derrick and Rodney ECKART.
3. Ronald Edwin ECKART (4 Sep 1900-c Jul 1991), b. Dulwich, London, d. Hull, YKS [7, 552]. He married [1] Mabel Alice HOPTON (1902-), she was b. London [3Q, 1b, 99], and married [2] Joan BOOTMAN, [? Ellen Jane BOOTMAN b. 1900 in Holbeck, WRY], and had a daughter.
If anyone connects - please do get in touch, most of the descent is complete for this family, however, interested in discovering the ECKART ancestors back to Bavaria.
Cheers,
Fiona
