My grandmother was Leona ECKART Carver, wife of Alva F Carver and mother of Wm E, Paul F, Russell W, and my father Harry F. We think she was born about 1904. We KNOW she was born, raised and married to Alva in Harrison Co. They lived in the area of Dogwood, Elizabeth, Laconia and Mauckport. About 1940 they moved to New Albany. Alva died from a truck accident in 1941, shortly before my father (Harry) was born. She married a 2nd time to a Kenneth Hendricks and she died in New Albany @ 1965. Leona is buried in the Smith Campground Cemetery with her husband Alva and some of her sons. My father was MIA/KIA in Viet Nam in 1968. He grew up in New Albany but he never knew any of his mother's family. We lived in Harrison Co for a very short period of time..1967-1969. After my father died, a nice man came to see my mother once. He told her he was her husband's uncle; she believes this was Leona's brother Jearl, and she said their was a striking resemblance to my Dad. The only other Eckart information we have came from Paul Shickle in CA; unfortunately, we haven't been able to fit all the pieces together yet for our family tree. Leona had 3 sisters; Lily, Lena B, and Mariyelle; and 2 brothers, John William born @ 1909 and Jearl Lewis (died 1971). I am sure there are more members and descendants of this Eckart line still in Harrison Co. We would like info on Leona's family and if anyone has ANY pictures of her family they could share, it would be a blessing. We know who some of the families were in the area that the Eckart family married into, but we have very little information . Thanks
