I have been assisting in a One-Name study of the ECCLESHALLs in the UK.
So I have transcriptions of the BMD index entries (England and Wales) for ECCLESHALLs from 1837 to 1940.
If anyone has any names and dates for a search please contact me.
Any Eccleshall info is welcomed!
Regards, Mike

Re: ECCLESHALLs in England
My father's family, although now based in Liverpool and district were originally from the parish of Wrockwardine or Wrocherdine in Shropshire. My great-grandfather was Louis Eccleshall and his wife was Jemima. My grandfather, also called Louis, came to Liverpool at the end of the 19th century and married an Irish girl. They had eight children, six of whom remained in the Liverpool area, the remaining two moving to Birmingham.

Re: ECCLESHALLs in England
Hi Teresa, I have several records which look relevant to your researches.
There are none with LOUIS ECLLESHALL but there are some with LEWIS in Wrockwardine and Liverpool - so probably same name but different spelling!
And I have possible matches with some of the other info too.
I will email you directly with detailed information. And hopefully we can help each other?
Regards, Mike

Re: ECCLESHALLs in England
Hi Jenny, I have the GRO Marriage Index entry for your grand-parents:
GRO MI Q4 1925 ECCLESHALL, Louisa (spouse LYONS) Liverpool 8b 351
and possibly the index entry for her birth:
GRO BI Q4 1902 ECCLESHALL, Louisa Jemima W.Derby 8b 589
Does the age of your grandmother when she died match this possible birthdate?
If so I have several other records of ECCLESHALLs relating to W.Derby around 1902. So they may be relatives too...
If your grandmother was not born around 1902 tell me her age when she died and I will check again as I have other Louisas but not Louisa Jemimas!
Do you know your Louisa Jemima's parents names?
Hope I can help some more.
Regards, Mike Wheatley

Re: ECCLESHALLs in England
Thank you so much for this info, Mike. This must be my grandmother. She died age 95 in 1997.
She had a brother who was known as 'Uncle Paddy'. May have been Birmingham resident and perhaps deceased now. Possibly Patrick Eccleshall and I think originally from Ireland County Cork.
Hoping to get the names of my grandmothers parents tomorrow. Will post here again if I can establish any more.
Kind regards and thank you once again for your assistance.

Re: ECCLESHALLs in England
Jennifer Williamson ( Lyons)
You must be the grand-daughter of my aunt Louisa Eccleshall and Uncle John Lyons. Your grandmother was one of my father's three older sisters. My father was John Eccleshall, the fourth child, and first son,of Louis Eccleshall and Mary Ann Flaherty ( Your great-grandparents) The 'uncle Paddy' you mention was Patrick Eccleshall, who together with his younger brother Louis moved to Birmingham in the 1930's, and married and raised their families in West Bromwich. If you want any more information about the family ( there were 10 children ! ) e-mail me directly.

Re: ECCLESHALLs in England
This is great, Thank you teresa.
I'm becoming a little 'befuddled' trying to create some sort of lineage. This means you are one of my father Frank's cousins?
Will mail you directly.

Re: ECCLESHALLs in England
Hello again Mike. You may have noticed from this board that Teresa Eccleshall is related to my grandparents and gives my great grandparents [parents of Louisa Jemima] as Louis Eccleshall and Mary Ann Flaherty.
This is so exciting. Another surname to research!
I've just figured this reseach could go on beyond my lifetime and we may never get to the very beginning!
