I am looking for my father. He was born in Louisiana. He would be approxmiately 65-75 years old. He was in the Merchant Marines, stationed out of California (Long Beach or San Pedro).

I just read this message and realize that it was posted long ago. Did you find your father's Eccle relatives. I am related to a group of Eccles in Louisiana- and incidentally, my maiden name is Miller. I am especially interested in your post since I am currently searching for a James Eccles born in Ireland and immigrated to Louisiana in the mid 1800s. He was a brother to my great grandfather Thomas Edward Eccles. They had a brother named John G Eccles who died in the civil war. I am Carole Anne Sarah, wife of MarvinThomas75.

Hi Carole. Just seen your post. I am not related to the James W Eccles here ( at least that I know of) but my James Eccles was also of Ireland. He moved to NJ. The reason I am sharing this is because other relatives also named their sons James. As a matter of fact you will see many. My James was of Co Armagh and then went to Co Monaghan before moving to NJ. Funny to mote we also had a Edward as well as a Sarah too.

No I haven't had any response to my search for my father. His birth certificate states he was born in Louisiana and that all I have to go on, except for the fact that he moved to California in the late 60's and married my mother Ruth. My father would be in his late 80's currently, so I don't think that he is the same James Eccles you are searching for. My father was also a Merchant Marine.

I think I may have found your Dad's US Census data for 1940. You can find it here:
http://www.ancestry.com/1940-census/usa/Louisiana/James-W-Ac...
His birth certificate didn't have a birth date?
