My ancestors are Irish Catholic, and I have found out some more info from my oldest brother recently. This is what I have so far - My paternal grandfather Charles Peter Eccles b. 1886 in Newark, NJ d. 1932 in Newark, NJ was married to Mary Sheehan on Jan. 9, 1911. Mary Sheehan b. 1889 d. 1947 in Newark, NJ
Charles Peter Eccles' father was James J. Eccles Jr. b. 1943 Carrick,Ireland d. 1932 Newark, NJ left Ireland in 1872. Was married to Charlotte Steinman b. Sweden d. circa 1894 Newark, NJ
James J. Eccles Sr. (Old white hat)b. Ireland d. 1856 Ireland lived at Creevy Mills 2 miles north of Carrick Macross in county seat of Monaghan, Ireland. Married to Elizabeth Shaw b. ? d. 1847
The property known as Creevy Mills went to Ellen Eccles (daughter of James J. Eccles Sr. and sister of James J. Eccles Jr.) Ellen later married Michael Marron, and they had a son named James Eccles Marron. Another sister of Ellen and James Jr. was Esther, who reportedly went to Canada when last heard from.
Elizabeth Shaw Eccles was related to an English officer named Ruckston (possibly her uncle). The mill property was purchased with a legacy she received from Ruckston.
My paternal grandmother, Mary Sheehan Eccles (mentioned above) was the daughter of Patrick Sheehan b. 1863 d. 1929 and Anne Scanlon (or Scanlin?) who were married in Ireland.
This is the extent of what I have learned so far. Anything here jingle with something someone else has?

My paternal g-g-grandfather was PETER b. 1811 in Ireland. His son's were JAMES, Thomas, Peter Jr., John, and CHARLES. His daughters were Mary, ELLEN, Alice "Allie" and Margaret "Maggie". Obviously, Peter, James, Charles and Ellen are common between our lines. A connection???...may be. Let's stay in touch.

My great great grandmother was an Irish Catholic living in Leith Scotland. Her husband was Patrick Callery. They had a daughter named Ellen (Helena) that married a John McGregor in 1903 and then a Francis Greenan in 1913. Any connection? Do you know the family?

I heard a story that my great grandmothers family had a ?Lace Factory in Ireland. My gr great grandmother was Mary Eccles. Her daughter Ellen Callary married Francis Greenan in 1913. They lived in Leith Scotland prior to emmigrating to Canada. Any connection? Apparantly she was to inherit from the sale of the property, but communication as it was in those days was slow and her response was received too late. I would be interested very much to hear about it if it is true.

Sue,
Can't really say for sure if there is a connection or not. So far none of the surnames in your lineage (except Eccles) have turned up in any of the connections I've made. Thanks for this info though - I'll keep an eye out for anything that might show a connection. Keep in touch.

Chuck: I have a bit more information now, which I wondered might somehow help. I've found out that there was family in the 1800's in Carrickmacross (sp??) and Scrabby (sp??) Ireland. My ggg grandmother was Mary Eccles. She was the daughter of Charles Eccles (ploughman) and Roseanne McCluskey married in Ireland. They had Margaret, Mary, Jane and others. They emmigrated to Lochee Dundee Scotland. Is this familiar at all? Sue

Sue,
Thanks for this info, but I can't really tell if it ties in to what I have without some dates to help. If you have any birthdates, death dates, wedding dates, etc., please past those on. It sure would help to identify links. I know that our family does have some kind of Scottish connection, but didn't know exactly how. This might just be it. I'll keep you posted on anything else that I turn up. Thanks again! Chuck
