LOOKING FOR GrGrGrandfather in Scotland
My Grandfather, William Dyke Eccles was born in Birkenhead, England in 1872. He told my his grandfather John (Middle Name Unknown)was born in Scotland. I am guessing approx 1812 (allowing 30 yrs per generation depending on how many children in the family and whether they were 1st or last). He and his wife (I Granddad said they had children at the time they moved to Ireland to work on a bridge where my Great-Grandfather (also John (MNU) Eccles was born approx 1840. My second cousin who lives in England (my grandparents and decendents are the only part of the family in the USA) said noone in his right mind would have moved to Ireland to find work in the 1840's so our Gr-Gr-Grandfather must have been an engineer who was sent there to work on this bridge. Any info for Scotland or Ireland that fits this, please send. Thanx, Jeanne

Hi Elizabeth
Do you have any of your Eccles in Dundee or Leith? I've Eccles who left Ireland circa 1840 and have subsequent generations in Glasgow (Bridgeton), Lochee and Camperdownn in Dundee and Leith (near Edinburgh).
Trying to trace back to Ireland and am fairly sure they came from County Antrim but am still to prove that.
Names in my line are.... John, Charles, James, Peter, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Margaret.
My tree is on genes reunited if you have a subscription I could share with you.
Best regards Mark Cameron
