His great aunt Della, made trip to Roncegno, Italy and researched it all back to 1799 to B.Eccher and T.Montibeller. The Rich Hill, MO Ecchers are now in Millstadt, IL.

Re: Bartolo Eccher

Pietro and Rosa Eccher's marriage in Pergine church records is on microfilm available from the LDS. The film number where it is located: FHL 1329826 which is a film of Matrimoni 1673-1886 Pergine

The marriage record states that Pietro Eccher is from S. Catarina. S. Caterina (Castagne) has some records on microfilm also, but the marriage records for S. Caterina start in 1913---perhaps that is why Pietro Eccher's marriage is recorded in Pergine as marriage records there start in the 1500's.

The baptism record for Bartolo is possibly to be found in S. Caterina (Castagne). (I did search Pergine for Bartolo's baptism, it is not there.) S. Caterina records have baptism records that start with 1810 and go through 1923 on microfilm number FHL 1329828 (item 6-12).

In the village of Pergine Valsugana is a church record for a marriage of Pietro Eccher and Rosa in 1843.

Is it possible that this could be Bartolo's parents?

The exact information is as follows: 15 July 1843 Pietro Antonio Eccher married Rosa Dominica Biasion Valcanover

The record lists Pietro's parents: Dominico of S. Catarina and Dominica Pintarelli
and Pietro's birthdate is listed as 24 May 1815

The record lists Rosa's parents as Antonio Giuseppe Biasion of S. Cattarina and Rosa's birthdate is 27 December 1820

In the 1800's, these villages (Pergine Valsugana and S. Catarina) were part of Tyrol that belonged to Austria. Today this area is part of Italy.

I am trying to trace the family of Bartolo Eccher born circa 18549/50 in Austria. He died in 1910 in Guernsey Channel Islands. He arrived in the Island in 1882/3 and appears in the 1910 census with his wife and family. he was my G Gramdfather. His is listed in the census as having been born in austria but a French Subject, this mayme because he married a French woman, Marie Alexanderine Le Carpentier. his death cert. gives his parents as Pierre Eccher and Rose ???. these may have been translted to French version of names as french was the common language of the Island at that time. Please connact me if you can help.

Let me understand, you are the grandson of Pia Forti So Pia Eccher was the daughter of Pio who married Mr. Forti, and Pio Eccher was your Great grandfather, correct? If so I knew your grandmother when I was younger (I do not remeber the year) when she came in Italy (two times, I remeber) to meet my grandfather and his family and visit the places where her father and her mother were born.

I am sure you will find your family there.
I have Ecchers in my family in Val di Sole.

Eccher/Quaiata

I am still trying to locate info on the Eccher side of my family. Emanuelle (Emannele) was 42 in 1901 when he came back to the US (he was a citizen when he returned). Per the manifest, he originally came to the US in 1889. When he came back in 1901, his sister, Fortunata Quaiata (originally came to US 1890) came with him along with her children (all US citizens), Emilio (8 in 1901), Gisilla (7), & Maria (6). Also, Rosa Pacher came with my g-grandfather. She later became his 2nd wife. Fortunata & Emanuelle's father was Antonio Eccher. They were born in Roncegno (Rencegno), Austria. I know my g-grandfather spoke Italian & German. Any help learning more about this branch of the Eccher family and Quaiata family would be appreciated.

Hi: I just got your message. I have not been to Valcava, but I have conversed with the office of tourism in Trento (which is about 25 km from Valcava) and they stated that the best way to search for relatives is to go to the local church and look in their registry. You may already know that, but I thought I would respond to your email. Good luck?

I am searching for information on the Eccher side of my family. My Great-Grandfather was Emannelle (Herman) Eccher. He was born 7/22/1858 in Rencegno, Austria to Anthony & Marianna. I only know of one sibling, a sister by the name of Fortunata who married a Celestino Quaiatto. Emannelle married Emilia Quaiatto 1/08/1892 in Bates County MO. She is buried in the Catholic cemetary in Rich Hill, MO. They had 2 children, 1 son that died young and my grandfather, Herman Frank Eccher, born in Rich Hill, Mo. 1/28/1894. Emanuelle later married a Rosa Pacher later. I am not sure when my great grandfather came to the US. Any information on other siblings, his parents, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks for sending me your message Dennis, I appreciate it.

I am doing some research on my end, as the names, places and similarities are too coincidental.

I spoke to my father, and my grandfather's first wife's name was GiGi and she died in the flu empidemic late 1918/1919. The name Casagrande and coming from Valcava, is too weird not to have some connection.

I will research more and get back to you.

Thanks, again........Mary Eccher

Hi, I'm italian guy, and I leave in Trento. My great-grandmother 's name was Maria Casagranda (Date born: 1895-May-26 in Bedollo,Trento-Italy; died: 1925-April-15 in Denver-Colorado). She was married for the second time with Severino Eccher. They left Italy, their country VALCAVA (VAL-CAVA:means Hollow Valley or Valley of the Quarry), around 1918/1919 destination Denver, Colorado. I found your message and your name looking for informations about my great-grandmother. She was called Mary Eccher. She died very young, but certainly she got sons bonrned in Colorado. Maybe she died in childbirth. She left in Italy other 3 sons:
Adelina (mother of my mother), Silvia, Vigilio (Partisan killed in 1945 by nazi army).
I hope these poor informations could be useful.
Ciao!

Continuation of finding Ecchers

I am surpirised to find out as much as I did from this web site. So, I thought I would add what I know and perhaps it might make a link somewhere.

My grand father's name was James Eugene and he came from Vulcava (Trento) area ( 25 km from Trento) and he had several brothers. We are uncertain of the year he was born and when he came to the US. I know of one brother named Primo, but dont know anything further. They settled in Victor Colorado. James was married prior to my grandmother (Clara). I am uncertain of her name. She died in the great influenza epidemic but I think she came from the same area as James in Italy, and she is buried in a cemetery in Cripple Creek Colorado.

Does any of this strike a bell with anyone? I have not been to that part of Italy but plan to go. I appreciate any comments.

Thanks, Mary Eccher

Eccher Family

Most Ecchers are located in Trentino, Italy.
Before WWI, this area was the South Tirol, part
of Austria. You will find many families in
Val di Non and Val di Sole. This area's records
have been filmed by the Mormons and can be viewed
at your local Family History Center. Please
e-mail me, Zalla1539@worldnet.att.net if you need
additional information. I have been there several
times and will visit again in February.
