I don't have a middle name, but here is some of what is written in six pages of this book.
Gigi Louisa ECCHER - her marker is lettered "Geegee Eaker 1894-1918". She died in the worldwide flu epidemic which struck as World War I was ending.
So many Silverton residents were sick and dying it was not possible for the newspapers to publish an obituary so there is no published obituary for Gigi.
Gigi's parents are Joseph and Amalia ROMANO who were born in Italy. Around 1890 they immigrated to America and settled in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Gigi was gorn there . In 1899 the family moved to Silverton, Colorado.
Gigi married James ECCHER 24 December 1911 when she was 17. James was born 28 August 1890 in Tirol, Austria. They had four children: James, Jr. was born prematurely 31 December 1912 and died 2 January 1913. Eugene was born 14 November 1913; Irene Amelia was born 24 March 1915 and died about 3 weeks later; Ernest John "Bud" was born 23 March 1916.
After Gigi's death James took his two sons to live with his sister, Camila CASAGRANDA, in Denver, Colorado. Camila placed the boys in St. Vincent's Home for Boys where they lived for about six years before being adopted by Jim and Rosario PAGLIUSO of Trinidad, Colorado. The boys' adopted names were Eugene and Frank PAGLIUSO. They were both very talented.
In 1938 James ECCHER asked permission to see his sons. The adoptive parents gave permission and the boys reunited with their birth father. Gene had been married two years and Bud was 22.
James ECCHER had remarried and was the father of two other sons, William Eugene and Robert. James died in 1942.
Ernest John "Bud" ECCHER kept his adopted name of Frank PAGLIUSO. Gene took back his birth name of ECCHER. In 1951 Gene was on a movie location for paramount Picture in Silverton, Colorado and met his uncle and aunt, Bryan Louisa and Grace Louisa MOTTO. Through them Gene found many other relatives. Gene and his wife, Bernice, had six children and more than 50 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
