Ella Blenis Ebeling
Ella Blenis Ebeling of Woolrich and Foxdale Village, State College,Pa,
died on May 22, 2014, at age 88. She was the daughter of Frederick Shute Blenis and Ella Kraushaar Blenis of Mt. Vernon, NY
where she lived through high school, graduating in three years.
After graduating from Berkeley Business School in 1944 she worked for J.M. Mathis Advertising and Robbins Publishing, both in NYC. In 1946 she married Henry W. Ebeling and while he attended Syracuse University she worked for the Director of Advertising at Carrier Corp. Other jobs she held include the Department of Mental Health, State of Pennsylvania, and Arthur Young & Co. and John Whiting, public accounting firms.
She had two sons, Billlives in Gloucester, MA, with his wife Debbie.
They have two sons, a daughter and two grandchildren.
Her son Peter died in March of this year and is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Mackeyville, PA, and two sons. Ella also considered as a son Carl Stousland of Oslo, Norway, an exchange student who lived with the Ebelings for a number of years. Her brother Fred pre-deceased her. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Motoko Blenis of California,
and ten nieces and nephews located in California, Massachusetts, New York, Maine and Florida. A member of the Woolrich United Methodist Community Church for 47 years she ultimately became Chairman of the Board.
Before her death she was a member of the Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church. She held many volunteer jobs including Den Mother for six years, church school teacher, President of the Lock Haven Hospital Auxilliary, and President of the Lock Haven Garden Club several times. She was also involved with activities at Foxdale Village and always said to her children how happy she was to be there. She was an avid bridge player with a number of master points. She donated her body to the Human Gifts Registry. Donations in her memory may be made to the Foxdale Community Fund (for people needing help with their monthly fees) and/or The Givers of Care Fund (for employees needing low interest loans for emergencies, short term and housing needs).
