Carole,
My name is Bart Burrow, my grandmother was Margret Ebarb, born in Zwolle on 2/17/04. The spelling of the name was changed by her father Francisco (Frank) Ebarb, born Zwolle, April 9, 1869. His father was Jose Alcario Ybarbo, born Jan 12, 1829, died June 17, 1902. His father was Manuel De Los Santos Ybarbo, born 1793 in Nacogdoches, TX, died 1817. His father was Mariano Ybarbo, born Los Adeas, Louisiana in 1750. His father was Antonio Gil Ybarbo (Ibarvo), born 1729 at Los Adeas, died 1809 in Nacogdoches, TX. He was the spanish lietenant governor and commander of the militia in Nacogdoches. He was the son of Mathieu Antonio and Juana Hernandez Ibarvo. They were colonists sent by the Spanish government from the province of Andalusia, Spain, to the province of Texas in 1725.

Carole contact the Choctaw Apache Tribal office in Ebarb at #(318)645-2588, they may have a family tree established for Thomas Lou Ebarb. A history of Antonio Gil Ibarvo can be found on the Website: www.tsha.utexas.edu Do a search for Ybarbo on this site. If you need further information contact me at BartJxn@aol.com I will ask my father if he knew your grandfather, they are about the same age.

The original Spanish pronunciation of the name Y'barbo is most likely to have been with a short e sound, not the long e. My daughter once dated a young man with the last name Ybanez, the pronunciation was with
short e-van-ez.

Have you found more info on relatives in Spain? I was wondering if you or any others have researched YBarbo's, Hernandes, or Padilla's of Andalucia, Spain? I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks for ressponding. Hopefully, we'll get a lead about this line. Do you know how they were transported to this land from Spain? Was Matheo in military too so would have been brought by governement instead of public transporation. Have you been able to do any research in Spain or internet only? Keep in me informed if you run across anything.
