Nelson Eldon Eastman and Caroline Augusta Eastman

Sue Green  (View posts) Posted: 20 Aug 2000 8:39PM GMT
Late 1800's resided in I believe Battle Creek IA area. They are my grandmothers parents. My grandmother is Monnie Beals who lived in Woodbury Co.-Sioux City IA until her death. Nelson is not my grandmothers biological father. Caroline was married to a man by the last name of West who died. Looking for any info on these folks. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

EASTMANs in Canada, NY,SD, and IA

I have an old Eastman history that mentions several Eastmans. Tell me about yours, and I will look up the names. It would be easier if you gave me a birth date, county, and spouses name. Several of them ended up in Iowa. Reubin Justain Eastman, b 4 MAY l845 was the son of Ellis Maxham Eastman b l8l8 and Lodema PHILLIPS. They farmed near Alpina, SD, and she died near Prophetstown, Whiteside Co., IL. Reubin Eastman's siblings were: Sarah Jane who m. W. W. Quivey; James, b l849; Daniel and David (twins b. l0JUN l852); and Charles, b l859 who m. Cassandra Quivey.

I would love to connect with other Eastman descendants of my line. I can go back to about l750, so if yours were from these states, please contact me.

Eastmans in Iowa

I can give you all kinds of Eastmans from Iowa considering I am one of them and my dad and his dad. After that the line goes to the Illinois side of the river, specifically Kane County Illinois where my Great Grandfather Charles Lester Eastman was born in 1846. The majority of my line started out in Jackson County Iowa and then migrated to Clinton County Iowa.

I would be happy to supply specifics based on your interest.

Regards!

I don't remember hearing those names, but my Eastmans lived in Tama County and in South Dakota. We descend from Justain Eastman, Moses, Cyprian, etc. who began in Bennington, VT.

I also am an Eastman, through the female side.My grandmother was Nora Alice Eastman d/o John and Mary(Liston)Eastman born in Jasper County Iowa. Then the family moved to Harden County where Nettie the youngest was born.Later the family moved to Sioux County,Iowa.town of Hawarden.I can get you back to the Parents of John William,Albert C,Charles L and Mary. This I found on the 1850 censes of Kane County Ill. Now there are more children born after 1850 that I don't have.

Do you have a Laura Eastman in your IA line? My 3 g grandmother is a Laura Eastman (b. about 1800 either in VT or MA) married to a John Bullard. It was suggested that I look at Fairfield, Jefferson county, IA for her place of death in the
early 1880's but so far haven't been successful. Her daughter Emeline Bullard (b. abt 1833) Prosser (m. Wm Prosser 1/26/1854, Rockland(?), Winnebago co., Ill) John Harbaugh (m. 3 March 1861, Birmingham, Van Buren co., IA) died in the late 1880's in Birmingham which is not far from Fairfield
