Looking or some help in identifying any information regarding the following Eames from Providence Rhode Island.
I am specifically looking at Dora/Benjamin Dora Eames who is listed on the 1860 census as born in PA in 1855 along with Caroline C. born 1851 in PA. They are listed along with Louisa F-31, Mary E. F-33 both born in RI, and Sarah Mumford Eames F 70 B:1790 in CT, and husband James M 71 B: 1789 in MA. Louisa married Ezra Allen Stevens in 1860 and Mary E. died in 1885 in Providence listed as a single woman.
On the 1850 census, they are still in Ward 4 in Providence, although at that time a George David Eames M 20 B: 1830 in RI is also listed (he married Almira Butts in 1861 - he's not found in the 1860 census in RI). Mary E. and Louisa are still with James Eames whose occupation is a tinsmith and seller of stoves and tinwear on Westminster St. in Providence. There is also a Sarah E. Boorom 34 F B:1816 in MA and two children James E. 8 and Elizabeth 5. The Boorom's do not appear on the 1860 census with James & Sarah.
James and Sarah are the parents of Benjamin Tucker Eames (lawyer & politician), and Emeline Eames who married Amos Chafee Barstow, and the Rev. James Henry Eames who married Jane Anthony in 1839. Amos Chafee Barstow was a clerk in Jame' Eames stove shop who started a foundry in MA manufacturing stoves and furnaces.
The only listing I have for Caroline is the 1870 census where she's is listed at the Butler Hospital for the Insane in Providence. In 1870 D. Benjamin Eames was age 15 and still at school and living with Mary E. and Sarah Mumford Eames now a widow. James died in 1865. In the 1880 census Benjamin D. was recently married to a Caroline N. and living with Charles & Julia Stimpson (her parents). In the 1870 census the Stimpson's lived next door and his future bride was also attending school.
On the 1880 census Banjamin indicates he was born in PA, his father in RI and mother in MD. Benjamin remained in Providence working as a letter carrier according to the 1890 Providence City Directory. Around 1892-1893 he moved the family to Philadelphia PA where he died in 1902 at age 47. His death information indicates he was born in Phila PA in 1855.
My difficulty is in establishing the parents of Benjamin Dora Eames and perhaps Caroline also, as they seem to be the only ones born in PA. There must be a missing male child of Sarah & James who was involved with a woman from MD while in PA. This is the point where I cannot find that male link. It could be George D. from the 1850 census, but if that's the case why didn't he take the children with him after he married Almira Butts in 1861?
The Swan Point Cemetery in Providence has the family plot containing most of the above individuals (but not Caroline).
Anyone come across something that might help tie this together?
Thanks
