Hi. Thanks for your reply. I looked at it and said DANG. Missed that census from 1830 and 1840 as well. Thanks for pointing it out. I belive she may have been helping Margaret (Eakin) Venus at the farm and Margaret passed away and she was still there. I still need to write Scott co records to find out when she died. I think the 1820 census for Margaret Venus shows 2 adults and 2 slaves so I think Lettis was helping her James Eakin, Lettis father died abt 1828. A lot of changes happened to the family between 1825 - 1835. I believe they lost the Bledsoe property around this time but have no proof yet...working on it. Also there was a severe depression going on during the 1830s.
As to Joseph Eakin. His father was Samuel Eakin. Different Eakin lines. I have been at this reach on Eakin families and can just about tell by the names and location which line it is. No Joseph in Letitia's line. Her line springs from original settlers of Shendoah Valley Lexington Va. James Eakin B: 1702 Drumbo parish, county down Northern Ireland settled on Borden's Tract in 1742.
I'm stumped by the young male child. I recently uncovered a large number of siblings of Letitia, some born as late as 1819, but nothing that matches the 1830 census. When I solve the mystery I will post to the message board. Thanks again.
Laura
