This is a rather old post, but I thought I would answer it. I have been tracking this line for several years. Some information I have is verified, some is a good guess. I will give you what I have learned. James Eakin (B: 1702 Co Down, Ulster Province) was married to Agnes (last name not verified). He was Scotch-Irish and Presbyterian. I believe they were married in Ulster sometime around 1727-1730. I believe they had Mary and John before they emigrated to America between 1735-37 from most likely the port of Belfast. They also came with James' brother Walter. They would have arrived at the port of Philadelphia and were wealthy enough to not have to be farmed out as indentured servants as many Scotch-Irish were. The family moved west into Lancaster PA for a couple of years. It was during this time that I believe their son James Jr. was born. They then came down the Great Wagon Road to the Shenandoah valley and settle on 550 acres in Borden's Tract, Timber Ridge. James and Walter were one of the founding members of Timber Ridge Presbyterian church and the property lies to the south west of the church. James died in Jan 1765 (he is NOT buried in Berkeley Co W VA) and divided the land among his children. James Jr. was made custodian of the younger sons Andrew and Samuel. James Jr. marries for the first time around 1760 to Anne Beard. They MAY have had children. Anne dies before 1769 when her father Thomas Beard passes away. Shortly after she dies James marries Isabella Moore. There are many stories out there about their children, most of which I found to be untrue through just puzzling through the available documentation. I have placed my research up on We Relate Wiki if anyone is interested. It is a work in progress, however, I have faithfully tried to stick to the facts with citation and some deductive reasoning. The wiki is free and open to all if anyone of this line wishes to collaborate.
