If anyone is interested, there are two sources of info on the Eagan name that I know about you may find useful. 1. A pdf document published by the Missouri Forestry Dept (available on line, which includes the history of Father Hogan and his Irish Wilderness settlement in Missouri, and the names and dates of Missouri counties formed from larger counties. Historical records from the Ozark region of Missouri are almost non-exsistant for periods prior to 1865, and many of the records that did exist have been destroyed by the Civil War, fires and floodwaters. In the old town of Greenville,Mo (old County Seat)some graves and cemetary headstones have vanished due to the Black River eroding away the cemetary.
2. I also found a book which has references to the Eagan name in Ripley County, Mo., such as the Eagan Creek, and an Eagan' is mentioned who was the Post Master of Pratt, Mo. The name 'Alfred Eagan is also mentioned.
