After 20 years or so of research I have compiled an Eacott background history available at my website ... members.execulink.com/~eacott would be pleased to hear from any Eacott, Eycott, Ecott etc.

John -- I just found your web site. My great grandmother was Margaret Sophia Eacutt (note spelling), daughter of Isaac Eacutt and Sophy Rouch. They lived in Morrisburg in the 1870s when Margaret married by great grandfather Reuben Brown. I haven't been able to trace what happened to the rest of this branch of the family and if you have any idea, I would like to know. I think they probably emigrated to the States, but am not sure where. Do you know what branch of the family Isaac was descended from? Found your site very interesting. Cheers

Eacutt ..Dundas county book ref pg 179 "The story of Dundas, being a History of the county of Dundas" published 1905 St. Lawrence Pub, Iroqois Ont. .....this exists someplace, probably in a library in that area. Do you live thereabouts. I'd like to know what it says. My reference was possibly a will since my evidence was not an 1845 birthdate but I don't know just where I might have gotten that info. Wherever there is a certain date!

Isaac was born in 1815, he was a methodist, and foreman in I believe a mill, in Morrisburg....census of 1871. He was 56 in 1871 ansd it is unlikely he relocated to USA at that age and position at that time.

I can find that book in our reference library in Toronto. Will let you know what it says. Thanks. Lois

Isaac Eacott born in 1845 died in 1911 in Surrey England, and was married to Eliza Pyke 1853-?, who was born in Orpington, Kent. They had many children, but four of them immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's. Three brothers, George, Alfred and Samuel settled in the Hamilton area, and one brother, John, settled in Vancouver BC. Isaac was baptised at Chaddleworth, Berkshire, on Aug 3 1845, and his parents were Jacob and Hannah Eacott. In the 1881 census, his birthplace is listed as Weston, Berkshire.

Thanks for the data on Isaac. I know about the family line at Hamilton, having corresponded with them earlier.

Saw your message on Ancestry.com. Have been trying to research my branch of the Eckett/Eacott family but am stuck with Thomas Eccott (1797). The family were living in Hampshire/Berkshire, England. Any connection, Regards Peter.
