I have a Violetta Eaches, b. abt. 1838 in PA, who is the third wife of Lewis Haney, b. 1813 in PA, (Berks Co. but the family lived in Mahoning Twp., Carbon county from 1830 census on), whose first b. child was Amos W. Haney. I have the following census record for the other Eaches family(ies) in Carbon:
1850 census shows Eaches in Carbon County:
Adam, 21
Amos W. 24
Sarah 18
Susan 22
All born in PA
Violetta or Violet was married to Lewis on August 2, 1857, after the death of his second wife. The marriage occured in Carbon County PA. The names and date is from a publication, "Der Friedens Bote", an early Carbon newspaper written in German.
Considering the given name of her first born child, Amos W., or W. E. as shown in one census, I have tracked him down at last, he had married Susan Musselman, born June 1861, in PA, likely Franklin Twp., Carbon Co. Violetta or Violet doesn't show in the 1850 census, so I have no idea if she is related to Amos and Adam but they are certainly close in age. Since she would have be 12 in 1850 she should have shown in some census record somewhere but nooooo!
Interesting too is that in one of the Eaches families there is a Whitaker, there is also a Whitaker Eaches who shows in Reading, Berks in census records. No one seems to be able to tie these people together, but there is a Violet Eaches in the Eaches families in Berks too, so there just seems to be enough coincidences for something to click somewhere doesn't there?
I researched Eaches, Eachus etc. in PA and most seem to come from Chester county, in several locations. From what I understand, slightly, there were two Eachus/Eaches brothers in early Chester County, one became or was a Quaker, the other family was not. In Chester Co. the families seem to have started in the "city" of West Chester, then the name appears in the Valley Forge area, and in I believe Nantmeal Twp. and Coventry Twp. As usual there were so many sons born to these two original families that it is hard to tell who is out of who. The Quaker Eachus seem to have multiple records, marriages, births, deaths but little on the non-Quaker Eaches. Interestingly Lewis Haney's lines are out of the McDaniel family of Carbon, then Northampton County, and Lewis' grandmother is stated to have been a Quaker too. She lived in the Lizard Creek area of now Carbon, just south of Lehighton, from at least 1773 on.
Any thoughts from anyone regarding these tough cookies to trace is most welcome.
