Have you tried searching under the spelling with a "u" instead of an "e"?
I have found that my gr-gr grandfathers name is spelled with an "e"
but his ancestors spelled their name with a "u". I assume this came about
because a lot of people could not read or write and when a census was
taken, whoever was taking the census spelled the names the way they
sounded to them. There are forums on Rootsweb and Genforum for Eachus.

I am looking for information about Jane Eaches who lived in Lawrence county Ohio around 1930. She married Louis Heaberlin and had 6 kids. She died in childbirth about 1935. Any info would be appreciated.

You can send for a copy of the marriage liscence of Lewis Heaberlin and Jane Eaches at the Lawrence Co. Library. Send $3.00 along with a self addressed stamped envelope to:
Briggs Library
Hamner Room
321 S. 4th St.
Ironton, Ohio 45638

Put down: Marriage Liscence of Lewis Heaberlin and Jane Eaches; Volume # 24 Page # 90.

They will send you a copy of the liscence which should have the parents names listed.

If you want to check out the Lawrence Co. Library website, the address is: http://www.lawrencecountyohio.com
They have a "lot" of information on line and a "lot" of information you can send for. That is where I looked up the marriage liscence for Jane Eaches. I have sent for a lot of copies.

Gloria, My grandfather was an Eaches from Lawrence Co., Ohio. So, my mothers maiden name was Eaches. I assume we are connected somehow since all of the Eaches in Lawrence county are connected, as far as I know. I don't have a Jane Eaches in my direct line, but if you get her parents names from the marriage liscence I might be able to make a connection. I gave you the Lawrence Co. Library web site address because there might be other marriage liscences, census records, etc. that you might want and you
can get up to 10 copies of information for the $3.00. Quite a bargain. You can email me at tdturley@ameritech.net if you have further questions. Terry

I just went to the Eachus website to check it and I got into it. Check to make sure you put in the correct URL

http://www.eachus2000.freeserve.co.uk/

Make sure "Eachus" is spelled with a "U" instead of an "E". The Ohio branch is about the only ones that spell with an "E" instead of a "U".
