I'm researching the name Jamba. My records indicate that my great grandfather Andrew Jamba was born 30 March 1871 in Nicklova, Austria to Andrei Dzamba and Maria Hricik. He immigrated to the US prior to 1898 and settled first in Jersey City, New Jersey and eventually in Schoharie County, New York. He married Ilya or Helen Pollack or Polak who was born 1875 in Hutka, Austria. They had 10 children.
I haven't had any luck finding any other info about Andrei Dzamba or if I even have the correct spelling of his name. Other versions are Dzyamba or Dziamba. Does anyone know the orgin of Dzamba? I'm pretty sure that Jamba is merely and Anglicized version. I'd appreciate any insight anyone may have.

I also have some information on the Jamba/Polyak family and would love to collaborate. The Polyak sisters- Anna, Julia and Mary are hard to track but I have recently discovered a document that appears to be Anna's birth/baptismal/confirmation. This offers insight into their parents and locale in Eastern Europe. Let's put our heads together!

I can send you a descendant report. been emailing Ted, so although on the surface it appears to not be connected, there still might be.

I was the original poster. Have done little research on this side of the family, but am still interested in sharing info.
