He married a great-grandmother, Sarah (Miller) Bemis (b.1851 Indiana - d.1937 Cowlitz County, Washington) sometime in the late 1880s. Sarah's first marriage, in 1873 in Kansas, was to an Arthur L. Bemis (1849-85). Her third marriage, in 1906 in Cowlitz County, was to a Peter S. Dykeman (1849-1931).
