Dorian Myhre: I don't know if I have any info for you, but maybe. My grandfather Jen S. Dybdahl came to America about 1916 to Chicago first and then Iowa and the South Dakota. He had many brothers (5?) and 2 sisters. They all eventually moved to California. I am new at geneology, picking up what my mother started several years ago.

I might be able to help you. Do you know if Anna had any brothers? My husbands family, Selmer Dybdahl settled in Wallingford, Iowa. His father was Gullick Dybedahl born in Norway in 1854. Gullick married Oleanna Marie Myhre in 1883. His wife dropped the "e" out of the name following Gullick's death in 1899. I know that he had several siblings, Halvor, b.1851 and Thor b. 1849. Anyway, if Anna is a sibling her parents are Svenning Trondson Dybedahl 1817-1878 and Segri Halvordatter Dybedahl 1816-1889. Both are buried in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. If this is a match, please let me know. I have additional information.

Yes, I'm sure this is a match. I have Oleanna Myhre in my Myhre genealogy-- dau. of Trond O. Myhre, she later married Sevat Sevatson-- right? I KNEW this Dybdahl was related to Anna, but how? Oh, I'm so excited! Send me whatever you have! If you need anything on Oleanna, I have it! Thank you! Dorian

First, I gave you the wrong e-mail address. It's gdybdahl@aol.com. Here is some of the info I have gathered. Oleanna Marie Myhre married Gullick Dybedahl, 10-4-1883. They had 5 children, Selmer Therodore Dybdahl,1887 - 1970 (my husbands grandfather), Rosetta "Sylvia" Dybdahl, 1885, Alvin Gordon Dybdahl, 1889, Thelma Grace Dybdahl,1892 and Orrin Hubuert Dybdahl 1894 and with Sevat Sevatson, one daughter Melva Elizabeth Savatson. Gullick and Selmer Dybdahl (and Selmer's wife Sarah Bertina Nelson) are all buried in the Wallingford, IO cemetery. Gullick's father was Svenning Trondson Dybedahl 1817 - 1878 and Gullick's mother was Segri Halvordatter 1816-1889. Svenning's parents are Thor Torgrinson Hoff born in 1779 and Gjestrud Svenningdatter, 1785, The family is from the Bergen Norway area. The bothers Gullick,Halvor and Thor came to the US during the Civil War. I have great pictures of Oleanna and Gullick and Oleanna and her young children. I also have a great picture of Randi Thompson Myhre and Trond Oleson Myhre parents of Oleanna. This is really fun to think we have a connection via the net. I'm still not sure about Anna. Do you know if she had sibs.

Re: dybdahl--Anna had 7 siblings
Thank you very much. You had some information I didn't have. I posted my Norwegian lines out on GenCircles so now I'll update it with your information. Do you tie into Berge/Berg, Solberg or Myhre lines?

Re: dybdahl--Anna had 7 siblings
I do not fall into those lines as far as I know. My 3rd great grandmother was Anna's sister Gunil(d) who married Severt Olsen. My lines are Olsen and Rivenes at that point as far as I have been able to find. I have not been able to find anything on Severt Olsen, except there was someone by that name in Moody.
I've also gotten lots of information from GenConnect. I have more information on Anna's ancestors going back to 1618. I'll be happy to either post here or email it to you.

I am a Dybdahl from Minnesota and came across your postings. I too have relatives that came from Norway to South Dakota. My grandfather migrated into Minnesota and most "Dybdahl" ancestors have since passed that lived in SD. I hear that name so seldom. My great grandmother was Josephine Dybdahl and she lived in Centerville, SD. Great grandfather was Jacob Dybdahl. Children were Esther, Arthur, Olga, and one more that I'm drawing a blank on. Arthur is my grandfather, he had 3 children, Gary, Sandy, Joanne. Gary is my father.
