Re: George DYAS, La Salle, Ill, 1880, also PA.
I have some info on George Dyas, alot of it matches with yours, some a little different. George Dyas was born in Mt.Rath, Ireland. Mother was daughter of Sir George Whitted (?). Father was supposed to have emigrated from Spain to Ireland after service in the personal bodyguard of the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo. George emigrated to the United States when he was 20 years old and lived in Pennsylvania. He married Margaret O'Connor of Queenstown (near Cobh) Ireland while living in Pennsylvania. He was a day fireman on a U.S.Naval vessel operating on the Mississippi River during the Civil War. After the war he moved to LaSalle, IL and later to Streator IL. He had 7 children all born in LaSalle IL. Margaret Mayne Rebecca George Jr. John David Edward I hope this helps, let me know.

Re: George DYAS, La Salle, Ill, 1880, also PA.
Thank you so much for the great amount of infomation you've shared.. It was my father, now dead 25 yrs that gave me what little I have. The balance of my ancestors are also LaSalle or Bureau county people. How did you find such fascinating information. Any idea his length of service in the CW, or what he did for a living ?? Census only said laborer, and in one name was DIAS, while the other had it as DYAS.
Thank you for what you have shared, it means alot..

Re: George DYAS, La Salle, Ill, 1880, also PA.
You are very welcome. My mother was a Dyas, and one of her relatives gathered alot of information...I wish I could take credit for it. I'm going to dig a little deeper and see if I can find out more about his time during the Civil War, and see if there is anything else I can come up with.I am descended from Edward,so much of my info goes in his direction, but My relatives have excellent memories and love talking about family history. I'll see what I can come up with. Do you live in IL? If you want you can e-mail me at my address or thru the message board, whichever you want. Talk soon. Felicia

Re: George DYAS, La Salle, Ill, 1880, also PA.
Dear Felicia,
My grandfather was George Henry Dyas. He passed away in Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1953. It is my understanding he orginally came from Pennsylvania. Is it possible he is a decendent from one of the children listed at the end of your posting?

Re: George DYAS, La Salle, Ill, 1880, also PA.
I've discovered anything is possible. I need a little more info to compare with my notes to see if there is a connection. Do you know the names of your grandfather's parents? What year your grandfather was born? Did he have any siblings, if so their names? If you know any of this let me know and I will see if we match up.

Re: George DYAS, La Salle, Ill, 1880, also PA.
Dear Felicia,
I tried to answer on the 29th but my computer was messing up.
My Grandfather George Henry Dyas was born May 17, 1866 in Pennsylvania. He died in Blackwell, Oklahoma on May 17, 1953. He was buried in Lamont, Oklahoma.
My Great Grandfather Thomas Dyas was born in 1843 in Pennsylvania. The date and location of death and burial is unknown.
My Great Great Grandfather John Dyas was born in 1820 in Pennsylvania. He died in 1898 in Missouri. The burial location is not known.
One of these gentlemen, I do not know which one, had a brother named Valentine Dyas, nicknamed Tine.
I do not believe we have a match here, however as you indicate, anything is possible.
