Can anyone tell me what country the Dyles came from? Is it Ireland or England? The Dyle name in my family has been spelled DYLE,DYAL,DIAL (my line), Diehl and Thiel (German line) and Dile. Could they all be related? I know some of you have been researching for years. Can you enlighten us? Thanks! Joyce Mendoza (Daughter of Nora Alice DIAL Spurling and Charles Clarence Spurling.) My grandfather was Robert Lee Dial, son of Nathaniel Taylor Dial and Elizabeth Douglass Dial from North Carolina and then Tennessee. My great grandfather was Pleasant Dial and his father, my great-great grandfather, was Daniel DEAL. My great-great grandfather married twice and sired his last baby when he was 75. My ancestors probably couldn't spell, but they could sure make babies. Good luck hunting!

I don't know much about the origin but I am also descended from Dyals in Tennessee. Contact me and let's see if we are related.

Well, my Grandmother was Delores Ann Dyal and she had a sister (Margret) and brother(Vincent or Earl Vincent, I am not sure). My great grandfathers name was Earl Brady Dyal and my great grandmother was Bertha Beatrice (Jones) Dyal. She changed her name at some point to Dorothea is what I have been told. Let me know if any of this is familiar. I also have family in Alabama somewhere, haven't seen them since I was little). I know I had a third cousin named Teenie or called Teenie, I don't know which. I sure wish I had been able to gather all of this when I had the chance but I was too young. Get back to me! z

Dear Marion, I am not familiar with any of those names you mentioned, but you might try a different spelling of the last name, e. g., Dial, Dyle, Doyle, Dail, Dyal, Dale. They could be Welsh, Irish, or English or even German. (Thiel, Dhiel..Germans didn't have the d sound so substituted the Th sound in some names.) Good Luck, Joyce

Teenie was my grandmother's cousins name that we used to visit in Alabama. My grandmother was Delores Ann (or Anna May) Dyal. Her sister was Margret and her brother was Earl. They were from Lake Butler or Lake City, Florida and used to visit the Dyals in Alabama and Tennessee. My name is Zena Aber (maiden name) and my father was Albert Richard Aber. Could you see if anyone in your family recognizes any of the names? I last visited family in Alabama when I was a child (about 15 years ago actually) and can't remember where we went or who we saw. I have family (supposedly) in Alabama and here is a list of the names: Eddie Dyal, Diane, Tanya (cousin of mine), and JD or DJ I can't remember which. I will check back to see if you know of anyone. Thank you. Zena

I don't know if any of you will see this because you started this Dyal thread so long ago!
I have a great-great grand mother who was Fannie Dyle. She was born in Alabama and married AJ Thomas also born in Alabama. They had a daughter named Roxie Ann who was born in 1878. She would be my great grand mother. Roxie Ann married William M. Crabtree. She died at 42 years old in 1920 and is buried in Elon Cemetary near Cullman. I have photos of her grave marker which I have not posted here yet.
My cousins and I always heared about the German ancestry of Cullman. The thing is, Crabtree is almost 100% English. I have found that Dyle and some of the derivatives are Belgium or German. I think this might be our German line if there is one.
After Roxie Ann died, the family fell apart. We believe that William Crabtree remarried, but I have found no other marriage.
If you have any information about Fannie Dyle, AJ Thomas or Roxie Ann it would be great appreciated!
