I have received info that Dahlonega W Dyal Jr. was married to an Ella Hester ... this info is said to have come from a history book of Hazelhurst GA. in the Jeff Davis County Library... If this is so he would be my great grandfather.... all of his children and grandchildren knew him as David Dahlonigan Dyal but he signed his name as DW Dyal on important papers etc... I do not know how to go back and get a birthcertificate from that far back.... The information I have cannot be totally correct but most of the dates, even on the children they had match, could there have been 2 Dahlonega Washington Dyal's? If anyone has any info on this please email me and let me know,,, thanks

I just stumbled upon your post this morning, so I don't know if you ever found the information you were looking for, but I tell you as much as I know.
Dahlonega W. Dyal Jr. married Ida Alice Wilkes, and when she passed away, he married Pearl Agness Baggett. He had 4 children with Ida and 8 with Pearl. Pearl and Dahlonega are my great grandparents. The name Dahlonega is used a lot throughout the Dyal's, but if the one you were looking for is from Appling County, Georgia, then you have the right one. I've never heard anyone mention Ella Hester, but maybe it was too long ago for anyone to have known. Regardless, if you are still curious or haven't found anything out yet, I will help as much as I can.

I also just stumbled upon your post today while researching something else. Dahlonega Washington Dyal, Jr. was my grandfather. He actually was married three times. First two wives died at young ages. Ida Alice Wilkes and he had four children. Some time after Ida died, Dahlonega, Jr. married my grandmother, Pearl Agnes Baggett. They had 10 children. The last child who died (not the youngest child was my mother, Vyvyan Roberta Dyal Jordan, who died 10/11/10). I have quite a lot of information on the Dyal family if you are interested in comparing notes. I will help any way I can if this is the correct Dahlonega. There is more than one.

Christie, I am a granddaughter of Dahlonega Washington Dyal, Jr. who married my grandmother, Pearl Agnes Baggett. Although he was married twice earlier, both wives died at very young ages and neither was married to Ella Hester. Yours could possibly be a different Dahlonega but it is strange that so much of our family history is also in the Hazelhurst, Georgia area. I believe my grandfather died while on a trip to Hazelhurst, his death was sudden and unexpected. If you want to contact me to check this out further, please do. Janis

I learned about a year ago that several Dyal's were practicing Mormons. Dahlonega Jr. did not have multiple wives, but his father Dahlonega Sr. had at least 4 at the same time. Quite possibly Ella Hester was married to him at one point.
