I have extensive information about Dwelley/Dwelly in south of England U.K. for period late 15th century to early 19th century. In particular I seek information about James Dwelley, Bootmaker, of London who died just before 1841 Census.

Des Ayres,

I live in California and have a long family history which works it's way back to England With John Dwelley in about 1606. Would you be kind enough to connect me with the Dwelley/Dwelly link in the UK.

Thankyou,

Steve Dwelle

Greetings Mr. Dwelle,

I attempted to email you directly but unfortunately the email was returned. I'll post here in hopes that you get it via listserv mailer.

My father has been interested in family genealogy for some time and I know he has some information on the family back into England, although to what extent I am unclear. I understand (perhaps incorrectly) that we descended from John Dwelley, who first came to Massachusetts at around the
timeframe you mention, was a landowner and involved in surveying and settling the town of Hanover, MA.

There were a couple of documents published in (I believe) London around 1900 - 1910 on the history of the Dwelly family, but I think that they were exploratory and raised more questions than answered any. I think dad either has those, or knows who does. But even with those, I think it gets pretty
murky once you get into Somerset, let alone Wales.

I'm sure he would be happy to hear from you if you are interested in family history. Please feel free to email me directly if you wish.

Best Regards,
Darrell A. Dwelley

For several years, Des Ayres and I have shared information about Dwelly/Dwelley ancestors living in England during the 19th century. We both have a great deal of documented information. My own Dwelly line immigrated to the U.S. and Canada around 1900. I am aware of a Dwelly line which immigrated to New England in the 1600s, and feel that most of the U.S. Dwellys are descended from that line. Is there a Dwelly/Dwelley/Dwelle DNA study in process that anyone on the list knows about? I feel that these lines must connect, probably in Somerset, England, in the 1600s. A DNA study could solve this. I am interested in hearing from other list members.

Greetings Mr. Dwelley

I'll reply to you privately as I don't want to post my current email out into the forum (sorry, don't intend to sound intriguing; I'm afraid of email spam to be honest, and hence the reason for the "DOT" in my return email). I'll reply to your comcast.net address and assume that it's your current email.

Best regards,
Darrell

Hi

I have only recently started researching my family history, in particular my maternal grandmother (nee Rehm). I have discovered that her grandfather married an Emma Dwelly in 1852. I have traced her father as William Dwelly born in 1790 in Somerset. I know that his wife was called Rosena, but that is as far as i've got so far.

Keith
