Thank you for the 9 kids...only had Oscar. Alice Catherine's dad was brother to my ggrandfather Charles Dwelley (1798-1870) Have been working on the Dwelley gene pool of grandmothers going back to Somerset, Eng., if that would be of help to you or others.

Thank you for the complete list of children. I may have told you I have Alice Catherine listed as "Catherine", I also have Samuel Franklin listed as "Frank". Alice Catherine's brother Joseph Franklin Dwelley wrote a brief autobiography of his early life. He refers to Wheelers on several occations. Writing about 1853: "In the spring my brother and brother-in-law, Frank Wheeler, moved to the country to a place between Acton and Stowe. Frank worked for the neighboring farmer and I did the same when I could get work." ..."After school was out Frank got a job cutting cordwood and I helped him. Our principle food was cornbread and applesauce. In the fall we had gathered lots of butternuts, hickory nuts and white oak acorns, which roasted and ground were our coffee, and made a pretty good substutute." Later, when he is returning to Stockbridge, Wisconsin from fighting in the Civil War: "On arriving inFond du Lac I hired a span of horses and sleigh and started for Stockbridge. When about half way, Abbie looked ahead and said, 'There are the two oscars coming.' She went on to say they were running away to enlist. When we met them it proved to be the case. I soon talked them out of the notion, and told them if they were bound to go I would enlist them and take them back with me. Oscar Wheeler, my nephew, went back in my old company and Oscar Bennett to a cavalry regiment."..... "I first met my wife at a party at my sister, Kate Wheeler's home."
