Nice Civil War CDV of a Civil War soldier Clark E. Dutton. Glued on the back of the card is his obituary from the newspaper. It says "Died in this city, on Wednesday morning, 21st inst., Clark E. Dutton of Co B., 40th Reg Wis Vols, aged 20 years." Written in ink above is a date Sep 1864.
40th Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry (100 days, 1864)
Organized at Madison, Wis., and mustered in June 14, 1864. Moved to Memphis, Tenn., June 14-19. Attached to Post and Defences of Memphis, District of West Tennessee. Garrison, railroad guard and picket duty at and about Memphis, Tenn., till September. Repulse of Forest's attack on Memphis August 21. Mustered out September 16, 1864.
