Durden's also came to N. Florida. The NC Durden's had a mix of Cherokee blood in them. Also, a possibility of Creek indian. There was a very light, well educated Black descendent in the family. I saw a photo of his famliy...very nice looking family. A little more interest for the lineage. My grgrfather was one-half Cherokee. He came to FL from NC. He was Greenie Durden, married Ida Lane, married for 73 years. Can't remember exact year he died. Ida died about 8 years before his death. He was a character...had seven children. All dead except for three females, Leila, Geneva, Eunice. Leila is 95 yo and is my grandmother. SHE is quite the character too....not always in a fun way...lol.
