Yes that is the same information I have less some of the dates. I didn't have her baptism or marriage dates or death dates, thanks I'll go look up the records.

Prosper actually came to Belle River late in his life where he settled.

It took me a long time to verify a lot of people's trees to prove that Marguerite Boule-Martin was the actual mother to Prosper. All the trees said this and I saw the records because Louis first wife died earlier that year. But in the marriage record there is NO mention of "Martin" anywhere. But all other records for Marguerite call her Marguerite Martin (with no reference to Boule) from that point forward. So it didn't make sense. But her grandfather's first name was "Martin"

It was just a mystery to find out to verify it was the right people. A lot of trees I find people just connect to others and trust their work and a lot of errors are spread.

Emerance seems like a short form and one way it was spelled. But the long form is "Emérentienne" which is what it looks like in one of the records.

I'm trying to see if there is any Metis in this family. Because descendants of Prosper's son Noe were told they had metis blood, and Celanise Proper's daughters descendants also were told they were native as well. Two separate families same story, but I can't seem to prove eithe of them are Metis from Prosper upward.

The name of mother of Emilie is Emerance Duquet (died june 2th 1849). She married Joseph Plante.

Prosper Allard (son of Louis Allard and Margurite Boulet-Martin) was born 13 Jul 1836 in Berthier, Quebec, and died 30 Oct 1913 in Belle River, On. He married Emilie Plante on 24 Nov 1857 in St Barthelemy De Berthier, Quebec.

I am not a Duquet but I've been related to them in the past and are researching them.

My family had an Emelie Plante who had a mother named Emeranne, or Emmerand or Arienne, there are a bunch of interpretations of it. We can't tell. But she was from the Berthier area of Quebec.

She married a Joseph Plante and we think the moved to the Belle River area nearby other families. There were Plante's Allard's and Duquet's all in the same area in Bethier and Belle River.

I'm attaching a baptism record if anyone thinks they can translate her name I'd appreciate it.

Thank you both every so much, this gives me the names of both parents, and also Katie's maiden name which helps some. I am thinking that Mary Duquette died at a young age since there is no other mention of her in records...Still can't find a death date and place on either John Duquette or Katie [ Laplant ] ... Will keep looking, again thank you both for all this info, that I could not find. Appreciate it and for all your time you spent looking this up for me.
Donna

since I posted, earlier this year, I did more research on my husband's ancestors. His grandmother Nora Olson was married to Clement A Duquette...had a son Robert. Sometime in 1930, Nora & Robert went back to ND. What happened to Clement? His parents were Timothy & Selina Duquette & a sister Rita of Michigan. Are there any more decendents of Clement, born after 1930? did Rita marry?

thanks

Edward, I am the granddaughter of Olvinia (genevieve) Duquette. She was Oscar's sister. I wonder if you have any information on F-X Duquette their brother. He was born in Saint Didace. Quebec in 1861 and was Francois-Xavier and Celina Remillard's third child. This is where Virginie and Milina were also born. I don't know if he moved with the family from St Barthelemey to Essex County or not. The obituary of my grandmother who died in 1941 lists him as a survivor andliving at Belle River. I am not refering to their other child also named F-X. He was born in1873. We knew him as Uncle Billy. Do you have any information on this child.

Shirley Grandmaison
grandmaisong@aol.com

or Shirley Grandmaison
4405 Two Mile Road
Bay City, MI 48706

I would reaally appreciate any information you can give me.

Thank yoy!

Hi, I am a direct descendant of Michel Duquette and Louise Chicoine. Michel and Louise were married on June 15, 1852, in Verchères, Québec just south east of Montreal.

Michel, Louise and their children emigrated to the USA in 1881 because of the shortage of work in Canada.

One of their Children, Michel Amédée Duquette, was my great grand-Father. Michel Amédée married Clara Dolbec in Ware, Massachusetts and they moved to Canada at the turn of the century.

I knew of a whole group of Douquettes who lived in the Flinton Ontario area. They lived there for many years and lived a very rustic and sparse but happy existence in their tiny cabins. The men would sit out by their cabins and chat in the evening, and you could hear the fiddle music from where I lived just down the road a few miles. I know it sounds like I am making this up, but I assure you I am not. They were very nice, quiet, and decent people. My mom used to buy the beaver from them in the winter for the dogs to eat. They lived on their trapping and other jobs. We're talking 30 years ago now, but they are not the kind of people to just up and move away. I hope I don't offend anyone by my post. Not meant to be offensive, just factual, and hopefully helpful if anyone is interested in looking these people up.

Hello Marie-Josie, Happily the French Canadian family trees have been extensively researched. How do you fit into the Duquette tree? My husband, Paul, is the son of Anita Duquette and grandson of Edmond Duquette and Clara Breault.

Hello, Yes, Our "Uncle Benny" had a son, Richard W. Duquette, born 1944 in Connecticut to his wife, Ruth Samuelson. When he left his family, he essentially "disappeared" and didn't communicate with his parents or siblings again. It was always a big mystery in the family. It is only through genealogy research that I found him in Texas living with a Juanita Mares Duquette. Don't know as he ever got an official divorce as I cannot find evidence showing a divorce. Do you know anything about that?

He was in the military but don't have those details except that he enlisted in Stockton, California. He married Ruth Samuelson but left his family and died in Texas 9 Dec 1993. He was living with a Juanita Duquette at that time.

Census info is not always accurate.
Steven is the English equivalent of Etienne. So, Etienne Guillaume translates to Stephen William.
Chris
