Hey, just looking around on the Internet at interesting family information. My great grandfather,s name was Michel Scohier and I believe that his wife's name was Rene. He had one son named Joseph,his wife was Margaret Dittmer. They had one son and two daughters. Their son was my dad, Raymond Michael Scohier. He had six sons and we are all still around. Write back! hello, i hava a Reine or Renie Dupont in my family tree. She married Michael Scohier. She was born October 08, 1872 in Auvelais, Province of Namur, Belgium and died October 09, 1951 in 319 Howard Street (Home), Butler, Butler County, Pa. I live 2 minutes from Tarentum, Pa. and would love to find out if this Dupont is part of your tree.

Belgian Duponts in Charleroi, PA (Henrietta A. Dupont Leonard)

My great great grandmother, Henrietta A. DUPONT and her husband Gilles Joseph LEONARD emigrated from Liege, Belgium in 1886/1887 to Charleroi, PA. From census and Ellis Island records I have found other Duponts from Belgium living in Charleroi, PA at this time. I am hoping to find a connection between these families.

I'm Edmond Dupont, Jr. My dadwas Edmond H. Dupont, Sr. He lived in Holyoke, MA until 1978 When he moved to Worcester, MA. He later moved to Meridian, MS where he died on May 20, 2002, at the age of 88. EMail me for further information.

My great grandfather was Louis Delphis Dupont, son of Louis Dolphis Dupont and Julie Paradis and brother of Hermine Dupont. Louis Delphis, his wife (Caroline Cartier), and their children relocated to Holyoke around 1893. I have a photograph of Louis Dolphis (father of Hermine and Louis Delphis) with his second wife (Emerence Gendreau). If anyone would like a copy, please let me know.

My great great grandfather was Dolphus Dupont who married Julie Paridis in 1857, in Canada. Their daughter Hermine Dupont married Joseph (Narcisse) Smith in 1871 in Quebec. They had several children including Anna Caroline, who married Frank A. Lamothe in Holyoke, in the early 1900's. Anna is my grandmother.
If you have any information, I would love to hear from you again. I have almost no information on the Duponts except for the names. Joseph Smith disappeared and I think he died in Canada, and she came back here to be with family.

They had several children, and to the best of my knowledge lived there all their lives.

If Ellen married in the late 1800's to duPont in the S.C.,GA.NJ area he would be one of my relatives. Wilfred du Pont my great grandfather had six children. It is probably one of these Ellen married. His eldest G.G or Gilbert du Pont was born in 1866 . My grandfather was Paul. There is also a Eugene,
Thomas, and a Charles. He had two girls but I,m missing one son. G.G had one son by the name of Wilfred. I do not know at the present any of the other siblings other than my grandfather and he was married in 1901. I am doing a lot of researchinto the family and if I come up with anything I will get in touch. Jane

Kim I thought you were my daughter. My daughter is Kim Dupont Teevin in Philadelphia PA. I will get you her eMail she would get a kick out of hearing from Kim Dupont. My GGrandfather is named Joseph originally from somewhere in Canada ( Drummondville area of Quebec possibly. He died homesteading in Saskatuan Canada. We have a picture of his farm house. He lived in Holyoke MA and was a funeral director type. He drove a hack and I have a picture of it. He lived on High street 1888 according to a database entry in the Holyoke transcript database. My father's name was Edward Daniel Frein (born in Taylor Springs, IL 1926-1999) and his great uncle was Henry Frein (but from family stories I thought Uncle Henry 1899-1938(called "Heinie) never married). My grandfather was Edward John Frein 1898-1962, my great grandfather was John Frein born abt. 1862-1901 and my great, great grandfather was Peter Frein born abt. 1831-1916 in Prussia. Peter was married to Angela Kellerman from Prussia. That's as far back as I've been able to go. Do you think we are related? I have some information on Peter Fraen (abt 1832--home in 1850 U.S.Census was in Fountain, Monroe, IL) and Getrout Fraen--their children were Peter, John, Elizabeth, Henry, Jacob, Jos and Lan Fraen.

My Frein family relatives are from DuQuoin, IL. I believe they originated from Alsace-Lorraine. My great, great grandfather was married to a woman named Anna Marie Witthauer. She was widowed (as far as my records indicate in 1901) and married a man named "? Radtke". Some of them (Freins) then migrated to southern Illinois. Do you think there is any connection? Information handed down in the family was that my great-grandmother Josephine Frein was from Alsace Lorraine. This 1880 census has her mother Gertrude as born in Prussia -- and in the 1820s when she was born much of the Alsace area was part of Prussia. The census says Josephine and her siblings were born in MO, but that isn't what the family "story" says.

I haven't revisited these records for several years, but I do show some correspondence with descendents of a Henry Frien who was in the same St. Louis 1880 census. They show that he later moved to Smithton IL (abt 60 miles from DuQuoin), and is buried there. Don't know the relationship of this Henry with my Freins, other than that family tradition is that Gertrude's father's name was Henry. Hypothetically this Henry Frein could be a brother of Gertrude(?).
I spent some time on the Rootsweb Frein family message board some years ago, and I seem to recall that other Frein lines also had origins in Alsace Lorraine.

Samuel DuPont 1880 census St. Louis

In the 1880 census in St. Louis MO, there is a Samuel DUPONT, age 36, occupation teamster, cited as born in MO and father and mother born in MO. His wife is Gertrude, age 37, born in Prussia, which at the time included areas bordering Alsace-Lorraine in France.
There are five children named FREIN in the household also born in Prussia: Annie, age 17; Josephine 14, Louisa 12, Henry 10 and Carrie 7. Josephine's year and place of birth, given name of her mother, residence in St. Louis and occupation as a servant all match known information about my
great-grandmother Josephine FREIN (1866-1949) who married Charles Wesley WILLIAMS 3/12/1888 in Spokane WA.

Does anyone have additional information about this family of FREINS and/or the stepfather Samuel DUPONT?

They had a son Elie he married Marie-Appoline Milot Aug 1,1865 St-Severe [she is dgt. of Edouard Milot and Margeurite Lamy]
Antoine is a direct descendant of Gilles Dupont b France bef 1637 d Dec 24 1683 Cap-de-Madeleine.Married Marie Francoise Michel on August 10 1670 Lieu indetermine (au Quebec)She died Nov.17 1698.

are you familiar with Charleston. If not, there is an Area called Dupont Crossing, originally was a train stop in late 1800s. Hwy 17 South (Savannah Hwy) at Wappoo Road. Seeking info on Adelard or Adilor DUPONT, born MIRON, son of Delphis Miron & Odile Dupont, who died a few months after his birth. The child was listed as Adilor Miron, 4 yrs, in 1891 Census of Hull, Ottawa county, Quebec. He was living with his maternal grandparents, Jean Bte & Melina Dupond,[sic, s/b DUPONT-- KMC].
In the 1901 census for St Henri ward, Hochelaga, Quebec, he was still living with his grandparents, but now his surname was Dupont & his birthdate was listed as 03 Aug 1887.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sgt. 1st Class Kevin A. Dupont, 52, of Templeton, Mass., died June 17 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, of wounds suffered March 8 in Kandau, Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 79th Troop Command, Rehoboth, Mass.

The DuPont that Ellen Meynardie married was John (Jon) Pierre Augustus DuPont, Jr., son of Peter DuPont.Born 1856. He died 1913 in Savannah, GA He had two brothers, Thomas Charlton, died 1884 in Savannah, Ga. and Lee Lefebvre DuPont. This info is in the book "History of Clinch County, Georgia,: pages 132-140. My grandmother, Ruth Edna Patterson lived in the house pictured in the article. Jon Pierre married my great grandmother Eleanor (Ellen) Patterson. She was his second wife, had one daughter Eliza G. DuPont (my Aunt Gussie). The book available Huxford Library, Homerville, GA.
