There was a chancery court case in Essex Co., VA in 1794 where the plaintiff was William Dunn (and "etc."), and where the defendants were John Dunn and Larkin Dunn. Other surnames mentioned somewhere within in that court case were Bennett, Dunn, Martin and Page. This is all per the chancery court case index at the Library of Virginia website....but the actual chancery case itself is available only on microfilm at the library (i.e., unlike some chancery cases for some VA counties, this case has not yet been "digitized" by the library so that it can be viewed online).

Does anyone know which Bennett was mentioned in this court case? There was a Mrs. Winifred Bennett who MIGHT have been a Miss Dunn, per a few clues. I have wondered if Mrs. Winfred Bennett (whose son was named SMITH Bennett) was the Miss Winifred Dunn who was the known daughter of the William Dunn "III" who wrote his Will in Essex Co., VA in 1795....and who was apparently married first to a Lucy SMITH and then married second to a Diana/Diane unknown. I certainly have no proof, however, that Mrs. Winifred Bennett was Miss Winifred Dunn. Mrs. Winifred Bennett married second to a Mr. Owen in Middlesex Co., VA in 1798, but I do not know when her "unknown Bennett husband" had died prior to that second marriage. I had found no actual "direct connection" between the Dunn family and Bennett family until I came across this chancery case, so I am interested to see if the Bennett mentioned was a Mrs. Winifred Bennett (or a John Bennett, for whom Mrs. Winifred Bennett's son Smith Bennett served as the executor of his estate in the early-1820s, as I recall).

Does anyone know the ancestry of the above defendants John Dunn and Larkin Dunn? Was the William Dunn in this chancery case perhaps William Dunn "III," and was this John Dunn perhaps his known son....or were John Dunn and Larkin Dunn perhaps out of a brother or other close relative of William Dunn "III?" Any additional information on the people referenced in the above chancery court case would be greatly appreciated.
