Hi Jerry, Thanks so much for the obit. I'll post it and send it on to Kathy Starr for the general files. Her father, Thomas Byers along with a couple of other fine genealogists started the early Klingensmith genealogy almost 100 years ago.
Regarding Fannie's grandparents; from my source, Joseph was first married to Catherine Frey, daughter of Michael and Anna Unknown Frey. (the Freys sometimes marry Klingensmiths). It looks like some of these boys down to Simon must have belonged to Catherine who prob. died abt.1822-1823? Then Joseph married Esther, (no date)
The boys are all here--Jacob, (1819) Levi or Eli, (1820-1821) Israel, (1822-1823)
Simon(1824), Rueben (1830-1835), Asa (1836).--- So far in 1850. All born in PA But which ones belong to Esther?
Simon (1824) was Fanny's father and Elizabeth A Hessong was her mother as you state. and her grandmother was probably Joseph's first wife, Catherine.
So, we know Joseph married second wife, Hester/Esther(b1804 PA) before 1850 census. I show two more children listed on this person's work, for Joseph and Esther--- a Joseph Franklin Klingensmith (Jan 20, 1858) and an Anna(?)
P.S. Simon is listed in 6th Congressional District, subject to military duty, page113; Civil War; Pikes Twp., Marion Co., IN.
Hope you can understand all my ramblings. My eyes are bothering me.
Good Luck.
