The Will of William Dunn in the 1790s in Essex Co., VA did not mention a son who was named James (only a son named John was mentioned)....and as such, some researchers have significant doubts that James Dunn was truly the son of that William Dunn (who was a son of William Dunn "II" and Winifred Waters, and supposedly a grandson of William Dunn "I" and Alice Grey/Gray). Also, it appears that William Dunn ("III") was married to a Lucy Smith (a daughter of Nicholas Smith) before he married Diana unknown. As I recall, the above-referenced Will of William Dunn "III" was written in 1795, but it was not probated in Essex Co., VA until 1799.
