In searching for information on the family of Pernecia (also seen as Pernecy
and Necy) Ann Mackey, born 1857 Lyon or Caldwell County, KY, and married to Thomas Satterfield and James Rufus Dunn, I discovered that her mother (previously unknown to me) apparently was also a Dunn. Her father was Robert Mackey of Ohio (exact
location not known yet). The 1850 Caldwell County census apparently has a
Robert Mackey born in Ohio. His wife is listed as Adalissa M. I believe that
is my Mackey line but I'm not sure yet. I haven't seen that census yet and if
any of you could possibly do a quick lookup for me, that would be marvelous!
Some birth records in Caldwell County show the following:
Mackey, George P, born 10/25/1859, parents Robert Mackey and Alcy M Dunn.
Mackey, Lizetta, born 10/10/1852, parents Robert Mackey and Adaline M Dunn.
Mackery, M J, born 1/27/1855, parents Robert Makery and Mildred Dunn.
(misspelled in the book from which this was taken)
I suspect that the above births were siblings of Necy and that there was some
question as to the correct spelling of Robert Mackey's wife's name. It's
quite possible that her name was Adalissa Mildred Dunn but that is just a
guess on my part.
In 1873, Necy married Thomas R Satterfield in Pope County, Illinois. I have
no idea who his parents or siblings were or if they hailed from Ill or KY or
another place. Necy and Thomas had a son named John, born 1874, who appears
later in the 1880 household of Necy and her second husband.
Necy and Thomas either divorced or Thomas died, as she remarried in 1878 to
James Rufus Dunn, son of Francis M Dunn and Susan Elizabeth Dunn (first
cousins), both of Caldwell County, KY.
So, it appears that I have more Dunns than I originally thought.
If any of you recognize these Dunns (or even the Mackeys), I would love to
hear from you and will be more than happy to share what information I have.
Thank you!
