I do not know much but we have a few Dulars in the Cleveland, Ohio area including myself. I hold a world record in Sport Stacking http://www.worldsportstackingassociation.org/results/World%2... if you want to check that out. I was just looking around seeing what I could find and saw your thread. Nicole Dular, Craig Dular(my siblings), and Karen Dular[maiden Keckler](my mother) are my immitate family with the last name Dular. My mother's parents are Vivian Keckler[maiden Kouba] and David Keckler. I do not know much on my mother's former husband, Roger Dular, and his family as I see them very little. I hope this will help you.

~Chris Dular

Hello,

In regard to your post on people researching Dulars, I'm researching my gg-gradfather, Joseph Duller, b. 28 JAN 1872 in Slovenia and immigrated to the United States around 1887. Jospeh married Emma Gruenwald in Illinois around 1900. My great uncle, Joseph's son, told me that Jospeh was obsessed with becoming Americanized and almost never spoke of life in Slovenia. I'm guessing that Jospeh change his Slovenian surname name, Dular, to the more American Duller. Jospeh had three who also immigrated to the US- Tony, Lou, and John. Jospeh's parents remaied in Slovenia, and I'd love to be able to find Joseph's parents and continue this line into Slovenia.

Regards,

Justin

Hi, Jennifer!

Thanks for the heads up. I've already tracked down some information on the Polish ancestry of Chester Dular's family (of which I assume you are a part) and even found his immigration record on the Ellis Island site. I sent some of this information to Carolyne Ann Cassidy-Dular (carolynecassidy@hotmail.com). She had mentioned that all the information she was finding was on Slovenian Dulars, so I think I might have helped her a bit. If I can help you any, let me know. Thanks again for your post, Jennifer!

All the best,
Janet
Hi,
Sorry to complicate issues...my maiden, Dular, is in this case, an Americanized Polish name - Gdula. My grandfather changed it, as he owned a stained glass company and Gdula is not really pronouncible.
Most of my family is in Cleveland, so we're going to complicate your search. Sorry!

Hello!

I am researching the Dular families in the Cleveland, Ohio area. My ancestors came to the U.S. around 1900 from Slovenia (Austria). My great-grandfather was Frank Dular, born ~1874 in Slovenia, son of Martin Dular and Mary Genovic. He married Frances/Franciska Mustar, born 1876 in Slovenia, daughter of Anton Mustar and Franciska Perko, in Cleveland in 1901.

I am looking for general information on the Dular surname as well as anyone researching Dulars in the U.S. or Slovenia. I have been collecting various pieces of unconnected Dular information from the Cleveland, Ohio area- so I might have something you could use. Please post a reply if you think that we may be able to help each other!

-Janet

They raised their family in Cleveland.

Their marriage application indicates that Frank's parents were Martin DULAR and Mary GENOVIC.

A baptismal certificate gives Frances' parents' names as Anton MUSTAR and Franciska PERKO.

Frank was born ~1874 and died between 1914 and 1920. Frances was born 10-12-1876 and died ~11-24-1947. Both were born in Europe and of Slovenian ancestry.

Frank and Frances are my great-grandparents.

I have found several Frank DULAR's in the Cleveland, Ohio area (it appears that there are at least 2 Senior and 2 Junior):

1) Frank, brother of Joseph, John, Frances (DULAR) SUKOVICH, and Mary (DULAR) ROGEL.

2) Frank, (b.~1874, d. btwn 1914 and 1920) husband of Frances MUSTAR.
3) Frank, (b.1874, d.5/25/1919) husband of Frances MUSTAR -from WFT Vol 5 Tree 3484
4) Frank J., (b.9/29/1903, d.7/14/1969) son of Frank DULAR and Frances MUSTAR.

5) Frank, (b.~1874) husband of Agnes BLATNIK.

6) Frank J., (b.5/18/1904, d.Dec 1986) son of Frank DULAR and Agnes BLATNIK (his marriage application says mother was Mary, but he is ennumerated with Agnes in 1910 Census and there are no indications that it was a second marriage for either parent), husband of Anna (JERNEJCIC) Merholz Dular, brother of Agnes (DULAR)...[info on living individual omitted] and Mary (DULAR) TURK.

7) Frank, (b.1875, d.8/19/1914) -from Cleveland Necrology File and Ohio Historical Society Death Certificate Index

I think that's all. If anyone has information to help sort out these Franks and their families, I would welcome the help! I hope to find additional records that will eventually lead to proper assignment of the individual in the Cleveland Dular families.

Janet

Duelar- what nationality?

Carolyn,

I have not run across this spelling of my family's name, but the Census has several other "mispellings" so your spelling could be another. As far as I know the DULAR surname is Slovenian. I found some information on Dular's who were in the US in the 1800's (mine didn't come until around 1900)- none in Texas though.

It might help if you could say where your father's family was from (their nationality) and the approximate time that they first arrived in the US. You also might want to give full names and birth years for ancestors who are no longer living. What information sources have you searched on your direct ancestors? There may be some avenues that you haven't tried yet. It is surprising what is out there (not always online though) when you find out where to look.

Janet
I found the following information at www.ellisislandrecords.com

Passenger= Duelar, Stanislaus
Ethnicity= Russia
Date of arrival in New York= 1 Mar 1892
Age on arrival= 25y [therefore born ~1866/67]
P>Gender= M
Ship name= Oldenburg
Port of departure= Bremen, Germany

Maybe it will help. There was only this one person listed under this spelling. The site lists arrivals at Ellis Island, New York from ~1892 to ~1920.

Janet

Duelar's

I was born a Duelar. My father was from Del Rio, Texas. I have searched a long time for any relatives, ancestors, etc. I found one Duelar who was born in the 1700's. Have you ever heard of the Duelar surname. Thanks for your help. Carolyn Duelar Hockaday
