I have a Hugh Duggan ancestor that, according to family tradition, came from Ireland. He settled in Sevier County, was North Carolina at that time, in 1783.

May not be the same but is interesting.

My ancestors are Duggans from Sevier county as well. We go back to late 1700s...I had never heard that it was North Carolina at one time. Of course, now it is Tennessee, the Duggans still live in Blount county, which is right next to Sevier county and they are descended from the Duggans of Sevier county. Joseph Duggan was superintendent of schools for Sevier county in around 1900. His daughter Kate taught school in Wares Valley, adjoining Cades Cove (where "Christy" was)....she is my great Aunt Kate.

I Have many relatives living in Bradley County. Most of them live in or around Charleston Cleveland. My Records start in 1858 with John Crawford Duggan and continue to the present. I have very little confirmed info on the Duggans prior to 1858. Would love to hear from you and compare family data.

I am a descendant of Wilson Duggan of Sevier Co TN. He was the father of your Wilson L. Wilson L's brother, Pryor, is my GGgrandfather. Wilson was the son of Robert, Sr. who is buried at Jones Cove in Sevier Col. Robert, Sr. was one of three sons of Hugh, Sr. who came to America from Ulster, Ireland. My mother was born in Sevier Co. but I was born in Blount County. The Blount County Duggan's, for the most part are my relatives. My family roamed, though they retired to Blount County, and I landed in Texas. My grandfather's last sibling lives (at 90 plus) on property owned by Wilson in Sevier Co. in the Walland's Creek area.
